I'm sure this has been addressed multiple times but if you guys would indulge me why is he a top 5 player on ESPN/247 and a top 25 player on scout but 96th on rivals? Like I would get a 20 spot difference but 90 spots?

Also, please don't think I believe this is indicative of his talent or anything, it's just out of curiousity.

Here's a good article from today on that exact subject.

I usually don't buy into the "he didn't camp with ___ so ___ gave him a lower ranking", but that's what it seems happened with Trey.

Where was Butch? Recruiting our coveted 3 star?

Interesting that DeBord, Mahoney, and Thigpen were all there.. (which are potential candidates to be fired apparently)

I don't follow recruiting but I follow instincts

Butch was there last week and was visiting Cam Akers...5 star btw.

Butch wasn't allowed to visit. He visited to slow down Ohio St momentum last week

Should be a big day for the Vols' recruiting class today. Adding Smith would currently put Tennessee's class in the top 10.

Yep, this pretty much matches up with everything I've been hearing since last night after Smith left Knoxville. Definitely continuing to hear more positive vibes about Tennessee's chances.

Apparently, your instincts should have told you to learn the facts before you started spouting off about our coach's lack of attention. But, that does not stop most anybody else either, so you fit right in.

I think Butch must be taking our late season collapse and spinning it into a positive for recruiting: we need competitive depth and despite all the good classes we have had, there will clearly be playing time for freshmen. Well played.

Really hope we get this guy!

I hate Alabama more than any sports team in existence, just stating facts. Sorry if you consider that mean or trolling as someone else responded to this post. If you guys think our team plays well coached disciplined football you are delusional.

No spin necessary. As low as we were in talent when Butch took over in 2013, you simply cannot recruit enough players in 3 years to fill the needs at every position. If this were 1970 and Butch was taking over after Doug Dickey left for Florida, he could have. But not today. Scholarship limits are kinda hard to get around.

I dont think he picks tennessee either, but Butch did a visit with him recently. Dont remember the exact day but was between the Vandy game and this last visit. If he does go elsewhere, and I think he does, it won't be because of lack of effort on the coaching staff.

How is not getting a high school recruit that hasnt proven anything in college a bigger upset than losing to two of the worst teams in the SEC and missing out on an SECCG, possible playoff appearance of the Sugar bowl?
