'17 TN OL/DT Trey Smith (UT commit 12/6/2016)

Tigernet layout makes me want to gauge my eyes

I bounce around a few different team boards to read this and that. Most are pure garbage as far as layout is concerned. Only the South Carolina one is decent.

Richmond is on him too. KMac as well. For all those folks saying we don't have peer recruiting.

IDT anyone would deny that our current players are great ambassadors for UT... but most people mean peer recruiting by other recruits when they're discussing UT's lack. Our top peer recruiter at The Opening has said he's taking OVs to other schools and has not fully shut down his recruitment. That leaves a different impression than peer recruiting by those who have shut down their recruitments and say they are all-in to their schools.

This probably isn't going to go over well, but I'll say it.

If your a UT commitment currently(2-4*, 16-3*) how secure do you feel given our history? Sure, you could recruit your tail off, be all over Twitter recruiting for the Vols. Fact is, you may not be in the class a month from now. I get it. It sounds bad. It sucks. But it is reality. I'd love to see our recruits working for UT. I can also understand their reluctance.

I'm not saying our recruits aren't recruiting for UT; I'm saying other schools' recruits are doing it, too, and some of them are doing it very effectively.

We have fewer recruits at The Opening than some of the other schools we're recruiting against. It's high school. Peer recruiting in cliques is influential stuff. When a tight group of popular recruits who're all-in for the flavor-of-the-month school say "join us and build a dynasty"... well, we've seen what that can do. It will be different in the fall when we take it to the field-- but right now, that's what we're dealing with.

Going to have to have big seasons to get the big time recruits now. The days of just Butch's slogans alone getting recruits are over.

I agree kirby selling at uga what butch did for us we have to win or recruiting will get very hard to get alot of elite recruits. Title 9 hurt us alot in my opinion couple with under performing. Remeber saban went 6 and 6 then 10 and 2 then national titles abound we r not doing that we r u jusowing improvement not on same scale. I know they had more talent then when butch got her but sill

Seriously. Some of you people really need to give up following recruiting. It really isn't for you. Enjoy the summer and come back in the fall when there are games to be watched.

Following recruiting can be a stressful thing if you let it be, but it really isn't much, if any, different than any other year. You get some recruits, you lose some recruits. About the only things different in recruiting is 1) More in-state talent in TN. 2) More media outlets to follow from.

#2 is the one I personally have a problem with, because it has caused a lot of you guys to come out of the woodwork and jump on the recruiting bandwagon without having a clue as to how recruiting works/flows.

BB I've been here for years. This is the first time I've felt this bad about a class. There is some freaking weird nonsense going on when you can only get one of the Tennessee top 10. It makes no sense whatsoever.

It was mentioned last class there was some mending bridges needed instate. Most were sure it was nonsense and the kids would just line up for a spot this year. It just wasn't going to happen.

I'm with you. Something is funny about the start to this class. No question.

But I have by no means given up on it or hit the panic button. A big season win-wise and we will be alright.

Top 6: Tennessee, Alabama, Notre Dame, Ohio State, Clemson, Ole Miss
