'17 TN OT Obinna Eze (Memphis commit)

That's what DeBorg specializes in, so the turn around was credited to him. He comes in and guys get better. Not rocket science here.

I doubt that a rocket scientist would be a very good OL coach. Mahoney had to replace the best OL we had since the late 90s. He was left with no tackles and no experience at any OL position. His line improved during the season and was the baseline for the new recruits to fit into the system. It helps that Deborg was available to help with the coaching duties. I don't understand when people, fans, can not look at the complete picture before forming ideas based on incomplete information.

Sure it had nothing to do with young players maturing and no longer having to play out of position. I'm not one of the posters who really worries about you having an agenda, but if you ever wonder why some do, then look no further than comments like the one I just quoted.

A former Vol told me he was a hand in the dirt lineman and would have hated to be in this offense. Also said a lot of guys there were the same. BUT, once they got their guys recruited, it would be beautiful to watch but was not something you just learn overnight. Mahoney has been teaching this for years and Butch knows that and knows Pittman was not the OL coach for what Butch wants to do with this scheme. DeBoard knows it as well and is a better recruiter than Mahoney as is Pittman. However, we have the right coaches on staff except for one I will not mention.

Look at how young the OL was when Mahoney inherited them, and CMD comes in year three and reaps all of the credit? The line has got better each year, and C Thomas and other guys I talk to love CDM and give CDM the upmost praise, and they don't do that with all of the coaches. Look at who he was playing year one and how many were out of position because Dooley didn't recruit ANY OL it seems. Y'all got to stop ragging a guy who has recruited well and improved the quality of the OL unit each year. Seriously.

He inherited James, Tiny, Fulton, Stone, and Bullard. Year two we were thin because of Dooley going a class without signing a lineman, so the poor play that year wasn't entirely his fault. Debord does deserve some credit.

Upmost? New vernacular for VN.

Or most of them were freshmen or sophomores or hadn't played much. The year of experience for OL is huge and people are dismissing it in favor of applying praise on something we have 0 knowledge of.

Oh for pete's sake!!!!! It's freakin' D e B o r d. Spell it right or don't talk about the man!

Hot gog, I think we get this guy. And the De borg coaching will will make our opponents realize that resistance is futile.

I think it was an Alabama defensive lineman that stated of all the teams they played Tennessee was the one team he wouldn't want to play again. He said they were blocking him from angles he's never seen before. Said he absolutely hated it cause you could never predict where the block was going to be coming from.

And Reggie Ragland said that we were the fastest team they played against. We were very close last year… This is the year that we finally put it altogether and get over the top. SOON!!!
