Wherever I commit to, Im going to go down there whenever, before July 31, said Ross, whos ranked the nations No. 361 overall prospect and No. 37 offensive tackle in the 247Sports Composite for the 2017 class. Im going to keep it confidential to me and my family, not tell anyone Im going, and Im going to go down there and commit face to face and go from there.
He said he decided to make the trip to Tennessee again because he wanted my dad to see it, and the Vols made a good impression on them.
I went with my coach the first time, so I wanted my dad to see the place if I chose Tennessee, where Id be living and everything, Ross said. Facilities are facilities. Everyone has nice facilities. Tennessees are awesomely nice theyre better than everyones so I just wanted to get a good look at everything, take a look around campus. I spent a lot of time with (offensive line) coach (Don) Mahoney. Practically all day, I spent with him. Then, I talked to (head) coach (Butch) Jones quite a bit went in his office, discussed a little bit with him. I got to see a lot and learn a lot about the program, which I really enjoyed.
Ross said Mahoney critiqued my film a little bit during the visit and gave him some pointers on things he still could improve.
It was a highlight tape, so it was my best plays, and he would still find stuff that I could work on, which was very helpful and I can apply to this years play, Ross said of Mahoney, adding that the Vols view him as probably an inside guy on the offensive line, and possibly a right tackle. I feel like he can develop me as a player. I like the way he coaches. Ive watched videos of him coaching. Hes an intense guy, and I feel like thats the best kind of coach for me. And theres other coaches like that, but thats what stands out to me and makes me like him.
