'18 GA CB Jaycee Horn

and Wyoming had no business beating a fully loaded and healthy team at homecoming but they did. Does that mean fulmer wasn't a good coach for Tennessee?

Fulmer was a good coach..... until he got complacent and lost his drive. The magic faded and it came time to move on. Now, there's no argument UT screwed up the years after in a royal way, but it was time for a new coach. Unfortunately, we had a complete DA running the AD.

But none of this relates to Butch Jones. Butch will be kept or let go on his own merits. Great recruiter, but he really needs to put it together better on the field. Argue all you want, but results are important. Who you beat and who you lose to matters. Is it fair. Hell yeah. When you're getting paid millions to coach football, a lot more things become fair when expecting results. Love the guy, hate the guy.... it doesn't matter. Job performance is what matters.

Exactly, he beat app state, and our two biggest east rivals, one of whom beat us for a decade straight. He's not going backwards in the win column even with a year of unprecedented injuries to our star players. His worst loss is to Vanderbilt and that isn't execusable by any means, but 3 solid bowl butt kicking a in a row and progression in recruiting won't get him fired anytime soon.

How did Miami do against Va. Tech? Daisy chaining scores has no real meaning. The only reason someone would point this out would be to paint the program in a bad light. Especially when you consider the person's posting history who chimed in with the score.

You're missing the point. You asked what the poster said that was wrong. The poster said Appy St played road games at Tennessee and Miami. They DID NOT. They played Miami at home...in Boone.

Im not making case for or against his fandom. I was just trying to clarify what his exception was with the other person's post.

Fair enough. I also think it is fair to say that KB added the score in an attempt to belittle Tennessee seeing as though that was never part of the discussion.

Per Hubbs

Elsewhere, cornerback Jaycee Horn and outside linebackers/defensive ends Richard Jibunor and Caleb Johnson remain set for late September decisions. All three prospects want to visits schools early in the month. There’s been no movement with Horn, while Jibunor continues to waffle between a decision on Auburn (who still sits in the catbird seat) and Tennessee.

Interestingly, the Peach State prospects could watch the Vols in their opener against Georgia Tech. It’s too early for a visitor list, but like last year’s “Battle at Bristol,” the Vols will be allotted tickets for recruits to attend the game against Georgia Tech in the new Mercedes Benz Stadium. Prospects are not allowed to have contact with Tennessee’s staff at the event, but they can bring up to two other people to the game and sit among fellow Tennessee targets and commits. Part of UT’s interest in playing a non-conference opener in Atlanta is to continue to expand its recruiting reach in the state. Expect the Vols to try and get as many 2018 and 2019 Georgia targets to attend their opener in roughly three weeks.

That's the main reason UT decided to play in this game, along with it being in primetime and the only night game on Labor Day, imo. Hopefully, UT looks impressive and they have every kid in metro Atlanta thinking about playing for UT

I'm all for kickoff games in Atlanta, but if I had my druthers, it would have been against anybody other than Ga Tech. Lordy, Lordy, I hope we don't lose any DLs to leg injures in the first game of the season.

Only thing that worries me about this game. No matter if Tuttle is cleared to play, he shouldn't step a foot on the field. I'm one of those guys that think Tuttle should be redshirted this year. I think it would be best for him and UT in the long run.

We need him this year but I think it would be best for him if he RS. Needs that extra year to fully recover and get all of the strength back in that leg.

I agree that we need him this year. He has NFL talent and is by far the best DT on UTs team, but if he has another leg injury it could end his football career. A lot of times when kids are recruited and decide to commit to a certain school, u hear parents say that they think the coaches will take care of that kid like they were their own son. Well, imo, Tuttle should be treated like he is Butch's, Hoke's and Shoop's own son and they should do what's best for their son, Tuttle. Not what's best for the team, but what's best for Tuttle in the long run and imo, it's a no-brainer, he should be red shirted. I know supposedly Butch is on the hot seat and needs every star player he has to win as many games as he can this year. But, I couldn't look Tuttle's parents in the eyes after I told them I would treat him like my own son and he got hurt so bad this year that it would end his career just because I was trying to save my job and thought I had to play him to win an extra game or 2. But that's just me.

Forgetting one aspect though, IMO: What does Tuttle want? I know it's coaches decision and all that but if Shy has been working so hard all winter, spring and summer to get back and he is by all means 100% ready to play... then let him. Now, I am perfectly fine with easing him into the schedule and not letting him play against GT but come Florida game, I hope he's ready to go and balls out. If he did indeed RS the year, then I would hope it's a group decision and Shy, Butch and his parents all agree.

Great point. Shy is over 18, so he is considered an adult and can make his own decisions. Of course, with clearance from the medical staff. But, I would like to think it would be a group decision like u described. Maybe, I am getting soft as I get older. I just hope UT doesn't try to play him unless he is 100% healthy and would prefer that they red shirt him. I would just hate for a kid with this much talent have his potential million dollar career ruined before it really ever gets started. U are right tho, when it comes right down to it, it's Shy's decision.

It's a tough decision for sure. We need him fully healthy whether it's this year or next. Best DT we have when healthy, IMO.

I can understand a Michigan or Ohio St playing in ATL for cruiting but TN shouldn't have a problem. Never was in the past. Playing in Athens and SECC would be great imo
