'18 GA CB Jaycee Horn

I always liked to get on the playing surface where - future games were going to be played. It gave us incentive to know if we played well we would be back here later in the season - at playoff time.

"The 2017 season will culminate with the first SEC Championship Game to be played in the new Mercedes Benz Stadium in Atlanta on Saturday, December 2"

It still looks like Alabama is Tennessee's primary competition for him. The Vols are in good shape there, but some people close to his recruitment believe he might be waiting to see whether the Crimson Tide are willing to take him. If so, a lot of those people believe he's likely to end up at Alabama. But it sounds like there's a real chance Alabama wouldn't take him, as of right now, so if nothing changes, then I think Tennessee has a good chance of landing him.

That said, he's still planning to take at least a couple more visits next month before making a decision. He has mentioned that he could make his choice as early as next month, but he also hasn't ruled out waiting a bit longer. Don't expect him to wait until signing day or anything like that, though.

So basically, if Alabama wants him he is gone. If not, then I guess Tennessee will do. No thanks.

He may really want to play for Bama, but he obviously likes UT a lot, at least enough to put us back in his competition after earlier eliminating us. So much so that we seemingly have replaced SCjr as the main competition for Bama. So if Bama ultimately passes on him I am fine with UT being his second choice because I know if he ends up at UT he loves the school enough to give his all for Tennessee, and when we play Bama he might just give a little more.

I'm with you here. Either you're in or out. Go take someone else if he isn't he's not that level of a prospect to dictate anything.

It could also be argued that Tennessee isn't currently that level of program to be telling 4* DBs to kick rocks just because they aren't crawling to Butch's office on their hands and knees begging for an offer.

He wants to be at Alabama more than he does here at Tennessee. If that wasn't the case, he would have done committed by now.

I have to disagree. Almost every school in the country takes a player or two who may have gone elsewhere if they had room. Plenty of these kids end up being a great player. It might make them work even harder to show the school that did not want them that they made a mistake.

To be fair, we weren't making him a priority when Miner was still available. We didn't turn up the pressure until we knew Miner was all psu

Normally I agree but name another CB that has the potential this kid does that we're legitimately in on this year. Bama is facing a smaller class or this kid would be a take for them. Like it or not they are the most elite program in the nation right now. We can take their scraps and beat most any other program in the nation with proper coaching and development.

With a face like mine, I'm basically never any womans "first choice."

But if Natalie Portman says she wants to marry me, do you think I'm going to say no?*

Same applies. If this kid wants to come to UT, we better put a ring on it.

*This only applies if she's still hot. I admittedly haven't seen a pic of her in years now that I think about it.

This⬆. I have no problem taking a 4 star CB that Bama doesn't want. Throw in that he is the son of the Saints best WR in their history and the press that comes with that and I'm all in.

Okay??? I'm not arguing otherwise. Probably 90% of the Rivals 250 would like to play at Bama, Clemson, or tOSU right now, but only 75 of them can. Should we collectively say "screw you guys" to the rest because some of our fans don't like that a 9-4 program isn't a kids first choice? That kind of thinking won't get you too far.

Not arguing over your statement cause you're correct. However, this is VN. If we land Horn, of course you'll have Negavols say that the only reason Butch landed him cause Bama didn't want him. There's always a negative in a positive somewhere no matter what the topic is.

Obviously he can't be at both Tennessee & Bama but Horn more than likely would jump at the opportunity to play for Bama if Saban truly wants him. We're his second choice if it doesn't work out. Either way, I'd love for him to be part of this team regardless "how" we got him to sign here.

Okay, I follow. I was just wondering why you quoted my post to make that statement. It seemed odd and rather unrelated to my comment, thus my confusion. I agree with your current point though.

So in an already ultra competitive recruiting landscape, you guys have tnt bright idea of only recruiting kids that are ONLY interested in going to UT and if they don't have UT as their top school during the entire process they are OUT. Brilliant! Especially when said kids are 17-18 years old and literally change their mind about their favorite things on a daily basis.

Hey video game recruiting tactics are fool proof!

What I don't get is that if Alabama truly is slow playing or passing on this young man, then why the heck would he stick around egging to play for a team that doesn't think that highly of him.
I am honestly surprised he doesn't tell them to love themselves out of dignity.
Then I work my tucus off to beat some respect into them on the field!
