Not as much early playing time available, months of negative recruiting due to the lawsuit/Butch choking on the big stage multiple times, zero players drafted two years in a row, UT being a laughing stock for 2018 recruits' entire childhoods/adolescence, and programs with significant recent success being the staff's main competition for the guys they really want.

I know that we as fans are excited about the team and the progress it has made under Butch, but 5-7, 7-6, and 9-4 still isn't very impressive to kids who are being wooed by coaches with multiple national championship rings and dozens of guys in the NFL.

This! And add unimpressive passing game results...it's really a lot of things that can, combined, leave a lot of doubt in kids minds. Even our own fan base is not 100% sold that we are at an elite level yet.

Yeah, worrying about where a 2018 QB ends up 18 months from now makes way more sense than dismissing a widely known recruiting phenomenon. Meaning kids are attracted to winning programs.

Now I'll even say that's not happening. We stumble this year and don't make the SEC title game and while Butch's days are numbered, he wouldn't be canned for a couple years. IMO the big wigs would tread water with 8-9 wins for a couple years before making a move. I'm not saying I agree, but I'd bet that is how it would play out.

I think we'll be in ATL so it's not an issue. Fixing the recruiting is another thing. Getting to ATL doesn't magically solve that IMO.

Outside of our little bubble, nobody cares about Tennessee football.

If we want respect we gotta earn it on the field. And the only way to get the respect Ohio State and Urban have right now is to win a national championship and send tons of guys to the NFL.

How can anyone be surprised? He did everything but take out a billboard after FNL. He paid us the courtesy of taking one last visit before making his decision. He wanted to play somewhere else, and he handled it with class. Fans should do the same.
