So, he's committed to Penn State right now because DeBord was leaving? But, he was just a grandpa cleaning pools in Michigan, right?

Hope we can make him think twice as recruiting this class heats up.

As much as I like the potential of the kid we brought in last class, Fields would be amazing in our system. All of this work the coaches are putting in for him is great. For all of the flaws Jones has, being a hard worker is not one of them.

Nothing to back this up, but I think the QB battle this year is going to have a big effect on QB recruiting. If JG gets the job as a RS FR, we might have a harder time signing guys who aren't looking to sit 2-3 years.

Or if JG wins the battle he may only play 2 years, so the 18 QB could see that the staff gave the nod to the RS freshman and think he could travel the same path. Sit one year then start as a sophomore or RS fresh.

Possible, but it seems a bit premature to speculate that a guy who's never played a single down of college football will be able to leave early for the NFL.

It's all speculation at this point. Dormady may win the job for all we know. But I doubt the coaches are gonna say "if you come here you're riding the pine for 4 years until after JG's RS senior year".

More than one way to present scenarios to recruits.

If JG is still here after a RS year and two full seasons, that means he is probably not the transcendent talent we are all hoping he is. At most I don't see him being here past his junior year barring injury. We can not afford to have him be a bust.

We can try whatever Ohio State throws out there. Check that QB roster every year.

Some get it and some don't. You don't know anything till bullets start flying. Remember Stewart and Manning. Everyone thought Stewart would be the man. He ended up a solid college QB but he was not a Manning..
