Just to play devil's advocate here, the wildcard with all this is Martinez and the possibility he may not play this year. If that is the case, you have to wonder what he'll be next fall. He won't have played in a real game in two years. If the #1 player in the country is a possibility, I don't think you just totally close the door on him, especially when he was higher on the board than Martinez was from the beginning. I think we have to explore all options.
I say all that fully admitting that I LOVE Martinez's film and I want him in this class. The injury and the time he has/will have missed just concerns me.
Maybe. I think it is a little more that his dad is a diva.
You take the best players you can get. If Fields really wants in, then make room for him.
Fields dad said that 'he has only stated one time who was his favorite, Tennessee, every time they played Rocky Top, I got cold chills, especially when they were winning. When Justin decommitted, TN has a couple 18 commits so they are set".
Hmm, I believe I would kick the tires or throw a hook just to see if he would bite.

Dormady didn't play his JR year due to similar injury. He is fine now. It's not like we are expecting Martinez to have to play day 1. Plenty of time to gather his arm strength before we need him
Butchna hit the nail on the head. This kid is very talented but we have two very talented kids already committed. They chose to commit when the opportunity presented so I am rolling with them. Fields' baggage, aka Pops, just confirms that we don't need to kick these tires. We need a focused locker room free from drama and pre madonnas and/or there dads.
Tend to agree here..
Glitch, I just had a terrible thought. Are we starting to sound like crunchy leb?
When did he say this and where was it reported. Was it before or after he went to SECCountry with the story thathe and Justin felt snubbed by the Vol staff, when they visited for a game after Justin's freshman season.
Great post. I would also add that when the USC QB decommitted and USC came calling to Martinez he initially had some interest but basically wound up saying "thanks but no thanks" and honored his commitment to UT. We should pay him the same respect and value his commitment.Butchna hit the nail on the head. This kid is very talented but we have two very talented kids already committed. Didn't want in when we had zero QB commits in this class...he doesn't want in. :wavey:
