Would the INTERNET have told you how well Smart's defense handled Dobbs if SMART wasn't your new HC? :) Regular people watchin on the picture box seem to think Smart has had trouble with the Dobbs matchup.

I watched the game live in 2015 as a fan of SEC football. I downloaded the game a few weeks ago and watched it again because I'm having college football withdrawals and figured it was a game I could watch that would hold additional interest because Kirby is Georgia's new coach. I've re-watched the game twice and Bama's defense did a really good IMO against Dobb's. An argument can be made that Bama should have had three to four interceptions...as the announcers were correctly pointing out during the game.

I agree that Kirby's defense did not handle Watson well at all. I don't know what his game plan was for that game, but IMO it wasn't very effective; and a lot of Georgia fans have that game in the back of their minds. If I were Kirby I would study the Louisville, Notre Dame and FSU games against Clemson to get some ideas.

Staying on the same off topic, kudos to you for taking her to play golf. Any parents wanting to get their daughter a full athletic scholarship, women's golf is the #1 sport in competition vs scholarships. Also for taking the trips and letting her see all her options, good job. :hi:

Unfortunately, that's only half true anymore.... Just as football is limited to 85 scholarships, Div I golf teams, men's and women's, are limited to 6 full scholarships. The question then becomes, does the school fully fund all 6 or do they skim and fund less? It varies school-to-school... Even still, the way scholarships are doled out varies coach-to-coach. A lot of it depends on how many players the coach wants on the team (can have more than 6 players but only 6 scholarships). It's been our experience that most coaches try to divvy up the scholarships so the team can have more than 6 players and each of them get some money. Now, the golf budget isn't affected by academic monies so ACT scores are always important to golf coaches. Again, those issues vary a bit depending on school and coach, but that's the general concept.

As for taking her golfing.... Well, she kicks my butt regularly... She's 5"2, 120ish and drives the ball an average of 235-240. She's carrying a 5 handicap playing between 5800-6000 yards depending on the tour.

Still...thanks for the kudos... Very kind of you to say...

EJ fits our system better

Agree EJ fits Tennessee's system better. Lawrence wants to play in a pro style offense which is why he is leaning towards schools that run a pro-style system. It's really no more complicated than that IMO. Trying to switch back and forth between a dual threat QB system and a pro-style system, would be a nightmare; especially when it comes to blocking. Seems to me the better approach is to pick a system, stick with it, recruit players that fit the system; and don't sweat the players that don't fit.

I agree with that, but didn't Butch say that he would alter the Offense some to get the best available QB? I mean Lawrence is a 5 star, and rated #1.

He did say that, I just didn't see it. Worley and Peterman did not benefit at all in Butch's offense. I think it was a lot of coach speak at the time. A QB in UTs offense has to he VERY mobile or will struggle. At least from what I've seen. As the OL improves maybe that changes.

You are being too reasonable now... I'm in the mood to go off on an obnoxious Dawg fan. Where is that Zero Dark Thirty guy?

Watching the Alabama defense against our offense will tell you next to nothing about how UGA's defense will do against Dobbs and Co. Smart had a hell of a lot better talent than what he has now at UGA.

Anyone remember what happen to Spurrier when he was recruited. He liked Tennessee a lot but did not like the Single Wing, so he goes to UF.

Damn!

This.. I find it comical that some think the staff backed off or 'blew' this in some way..

First, he's an '18 recruit and it's FAR from over.

Second, if he does go elsewhere it's because that's what he wanted...

I dont think the staff backed off, I think they pissed TL off going after EJ so hard after telling him how they were going to tailor the offense to his abilities. I agree that it is not wise to put all the eggs in one basket, but like I said Butch is usually very good at handling this. This time it just didn't work out.

Based on...? Lawrence was just as effective on the ground as Jones last year, while he passed for 3 times more yards and 3 times more TDs w/ 1 fewer INT than Jones.

I haven't seen much film of Jones but I wouldn't count on stats to tell the whole story about that...

Yes I know Bama has more talent and depth than Georgia. I've actually said that on here. I still learned some things watching the game so for me it was worth it; especially since there is no football to watch this time of year.

Probably anywhere within the next month,” he said of a commitment date. “Maybe a little after, but probably within the next month. I don’t know where I’m going to go yet. I know some schools are more ahead than others, but I don’t know for sure yet.”

The fourth team in the hunt for Lawrence — Tennessee — is one he admits is behind others.

“They used to be the team I liked when I grew up, so I guess that always used to be my dream school. When I got into recruiting, they’re probably not at the top of my list right now, but I still like them. I like Coach [Mike] DeBord a lot, and they got a really nice campus.”-247

Recruiting is sometimes weird to me, one kid mentions a dream school and it doesn't affect his decision, another kid seems to base his entire decision based off it being a dream school. All I will say is, at least both seem to be doing their research. But, anyone with teenagers, what they think today doesn't hold water for tomorrow.

That's like telling someone they have a 'good' personality.

Worley did pretty good in Athens. UGA couldnt stop him or our wr's. I do not think its coach speak.

Jones plays AA ball in a weak region.

All true..but he is very mobile and has an excellent throwing motion. A lot of Georgia fans were really hoping to sign him. The only question I have about him is his football IQ, which is hard to determine in a weak division. Have to trust the coaches in evaluating that part of his game.
