Don't think many people want to play in this scheme. Basically, it has shown nothing, but for it to allow a scrambling qb to shine. No future bound nfl player wants to play in this scheme when they can't showcase their own skills. Ballers wanna ball

This scheme is being adopted by a lot of NFL teams. Look at New England, Seattle, and heck even Peyton started being used in this style of offense.

Drafting spread style QBs is probably the riskiest thing you can do on draft night. The college scheme is not close at all to the NFL scheme. How many success stories are there right now? Cam and Mariota maybe?

and both of those two are pretty darn good at throwing the ball, too. They don't run anywhere near as much as they did in college.

DeBord came in last year and crafted the offense around his best players. The results went from 371 YPG in 2014 to 423 in 2015. Scoring offense increased from 29 to 35.

That is what I expect our OC to do every year. I think there may be a little more balance, but expect us to run the football often and with authority this coming season.

We've witnessed an (at best) average pro-style and a shaky passer/gifted all else DT running it...here at Tennessee. We seem to have a lot of talent "not wanting" to play in said scheme. :hi:

This. You guys that want to pass the ball more because you think it will help us with WR recruits are crazy. With our lineup, we need to run 60%+. That said, I have no idea why we didn't ditch Azzani this past offseason.

That's still ok. 80-85 plays on offense. 60% runs. Still makes for 30+ passes a game. Just have to compete them. And at times, stretch the field.

Some are giving Debord too much credit. No matter who the OC was last year, that offense was going to be better.

HAD. Not looking too promising anymore, ATM, anyway. Heck, even Dooley had a bunch of talent at one point

You don't think THIS year's team has loads of talent? By "had" do you mean talent went somewhere? Certainly not the NFL. :)

This is what kills me....the offense gets better but yet the new OC is getting too much credit!!? Laughable. I bet when the defense is 5 times better under Shoop this year...he'll get all the credit.

Just like if the defense doesnt improve significantly, Shoop will get all the blame. Some fans love to place all the credit/blame on the coaches. Its ignorant.

You didn't expect them to get better from coming from a bunch of freshman, 1 more year in the strength program, game speed slowing down etc? They would have gotten better either way man.
