Need Smart to be Dooley 2.0. Why is Lawrence no longer interested in UT?
Winning the East only twice since 2005 doesn't count for much.
And yes, we haven't won since 2007. That's not the point.
Most CFB analysts and journalists (not fans) would agree that 10 wins in a season is a successful and "winning" season, especially in the toughest conference in the nation. Agree?
3-14 against ranked teams and 1-8 against our top rivals. Other coaches are negative recruiting with this.
Just heard Joel Klatt on the Midday 180 say that Butch Jones has not lived up to expectations in his mind. This coming off of a 9 win season, and a progression in wins each year.
It's hard to see one 10 win season changing that perception for guys who don't really do much due diligence. The 10 wins has to be a "loud" 10 wins- meaning you beat the right teams.
this is crazy, he thinks he's got a better shot over Eason and Hunter than UT? He will be sitting and watching...
Close against UGA in '13, Worley stays healthy against UGA in '14, put the foot on the gas against OU last year, and finish against UF (14/15) and those stats would show real progress.
7-10 against ranked opponents and 5-4 against top rivals.
Those almost wins really sting. We'd be sitting a lot prettier otherwise.
I don't think there is any doubt the Fla game is the biggest game of Jones' career thus far, you? I do think had Butch won 10 games last year (and he should have) the commentary would be different. They are talking Fla today and I've heard multiple times, we he did win 10 last year. Meaning, they deemed that successful.
By the time Lawrence gets to UGA, Eason will be a Junior assuming Eason plays this year (which I think most expect him to). That means he can redshirt and be able to start playing as a redshirt Sophomore once Eason is gone, or even a Freshmen if Eason leaves early for the draft and lives up to the hype.
I'm sure he has thought this out plenty. It's our anemic passing offense and our scheme we run that is turning him away. Emory Jones has always been the better fit, but it doesn't look very promising with him either.
Why would you say that? Everything I read is a toss up between us and Ohio State. Do you know something or the usual crap some of the down in the mouthers spill?
It may be time for Jones to ponder a philosophical change and go to more of a pro style attack that features a drop back, pocket passer. He is having too much trouble recruiting to this system right now. We look handcuffed to it...
Why? You run the system that is the best for on field results and you recruit to that system. You don't change your system for a recruit. That's what you do in high school. Recruit who fits your system. The system has been pretty beneficial on the field IMOIt may be time for Jones to ponder a philosophical change and go to more of a pro style attack that features a drop back, pocket passer.
