^talkin about top 5 in the nation, not 5*s in general

clemson has a chance to get 3 players from the national top 5.

its ridiculous...pretty sure USC did that once...not sure Bama has ever done it

Yeah I know. They're likely going to get three of the top six guys in the nation according to rivals. Congrats to them, maybe they'll actually win a championship with all that talent one of these days.

Nah, they don't have a coach to do that.

Y'all comparing Dabo's first four seasons to CBJ's are forgetting one small detail...

This ain't the ACC ladies and gents, this is the SEC.

To an extent sure, I agree. But let's not act like Clemson hasn't played some good teams in the last few years. In fact, they had the 7th toughest schedule in the nation this year. Do they have to play Saban every year? No, but they do still play a tough schedule. So really the two scenarios are pretty similar.

At this point I'd just be happy with someone else taking the #1 recruiting class instead of Bama.

Saban is on pace to do it for like the 7th year in a row. :finger3:

7? I'm seeing 47.

2016 College Football Strength of Schedule Rankings - Dec. 2

They played 3 ranked teams all year - Louisville, FSU, VT (who they beat by 7 pts).

You are correct. I was looking at ranking that blended FPI and SOS, my mistake. The CFP committee has their SOS at 32. I stand by my argument though. Clemson actually played 5 teams that ended in the CFP final top 25. For reference, we played 3 teams that ended up in the final CFP rankings.

EDIT: CFP committee also has UTs SOS at 44 at the end of the year.

Cade Mays is #10 overall and a 5star. Greg Emerson is #20 and will likely get bumped to a 5 star next year (only 15 5stars on rivals atm). 2 instate 5 stars in same year isn't so bad. Brendon Harris is #86 as well.

And all 3 look to be Vols, that will go a long way in landing a top 5 class (which I think is very possible).

Yup. In state haul has very good potential.

According to rivals...

Cade Mays, OL #10 (commit)
Greg Emerson, DT #20
Brendon Harris, DB #86
D'Andre Litaker, DT #149
Camron Johnson, WR #162
Justin Oden, WR #172
Maxwell Iyama, OL #199
Brant Lawless, DT #233
Alontae Taylor, ATH #248 (commit)

2 committed already and pretty sure we lead or close to it for 5 of the other 7. Not sure about Oden or Iyama but think we're in a good spot for the rest.

Harris will be going to Clemson.

Kind of reminds me of the 2017 Class potential :eek:hmy:

On top of this list, in-state there is Rayshad Williams, Oliver Lane, Jacob Warren who are unranked and will likely end up in the 4* or high 3* category.

Also after the years some of the 3* guys had like Shatar McClay & Jarek Campbell I could see a bump coming there (already seeing their recruitments begin to pick up since senior film has been sent to schools). Also Gavin Schoenwald will be a very solid TE IMO

'18 should be good to us

Offensive line coach Don Mahoney also spent time in Georgia on Wednesday. One of his stops was at Cartersville (Ga.) High School, the home of five-star Clemson quarterback commitment Trevor Lawrence, the nation’s No. 1 overall prospect in the 2018 class. Lawrence chose the Tigers over Georgia last month.

It probably would be an overstatement to say Tennessee still is "after" Lawrence. The Vols really haven't been involved with him in recent months, and stopping at his school doesn't necessarily mean they're about to try to make another run at him. Probably more along the lines of just doing their due diligence, perhaps just making sure Lawrence is completely shutting things down — and maybe checking on some other players at the school, too. I wouldn't read much into it right now.

- 247 (Callahan)

Thought I saw something in another thread that we're still looking at/ being looked at by TL. Might as well drag this thread back up.

I'm sure TL is solid to Clemson, but if Hunter Johnson appears to be a star he may start considering other places. I'm interested to see what a lot of these kids say about Canales and his ability to recruit them.
