For the record..This is about Hunter Johnson, not Trevor Lawrence. Trevor is the real deal..no doubt. He's got moxie and super talent...Gonna be a superstar barring injury.

This kid firmly committed to CU or any chance we get him back on campus?? Sorry for the most part been out of the recruiting forum since early Feb

Since there has not been a post in his thread since the time you have been on here, that should answer your question. Of course, we never know what is going on behind-the-scenes. At this point, seems like he is pretty locked in.

My guess is we will have a good shot to get one of Clemson's 2nd or 3rd stringers on the rebound, if we still want them, in the future. Not the result we wanted, but probably the reality.

Umm, there is a couple things here that are true. Last sentence is true as they aren't fans of Butch. They are Huge vol fans, Butch, not so much.

And the reason the Lawrence family became "not so much" Butch fans? Butch came across like he really would rather be somewhere else, recruiting someone else. Fact. Why would Trevor want to be where he is not wanted? As a Tennessee fan who wants the best players, why would I not be hacked at my head coach for giving such a poor effort in his recruitment of Trevor Lawrence?

Butch wanted Emory Jones..and thought he had him. Huge tactical error imo.

Man it's just my opinion. I believe Lawrence was turned off for good when Butch went after EJ so hard. I think we could have stayed in the picture with Lawrence if things were played differently. EJ was history as soon as the Bucknuts offered. My problem with how it was handled, is that they should have known EJ was gaga over OSU. I mean it's not like it wasn't pretty well known beforehand even here on VN that he was a Bucknut freak. As it turned out we lost any real chance at EJ when OSU offered, and just any chance at all with TL because of pursuing EJ so hard. If you don't believe that is what happened, more power to you...I do. I've been on record in this thread and EJs also, months ago saying pretty much the same thing...nothing has happened to change my mind.

I wonder if Butch thought that Lawrence's love for UT would be enough that if Jones didn't commit to UT that Lawrence would? Maybe he just misread the situation?

I think he really wanted EJ more..I understand that, He does fit the style better, but I think he misread how much that EJ loved OSU. In the end we are left with nothing...Justin Fields is as good as EJ imo, if they can turn him back toward us, then no harm no foul, but that is a big if.
