'18 TN OT Max Wray

Every year the worst performing position group has a "terrible coach." 2 years ago it was Mahoney. Last year they were much improved and now Coach Z is considered the worst. This year the WR's will ball out and he will get credit again. Hopefully we just win the Natty and there is no position coach who takes all the blame.

As it is written, so shall it be done.

IMHO, the offensive line has a chance to be the most improved group from 2015 to 2016. Take a look:

1) Coleman Thomas - This year, he will be the best Vols center since Scott Wells. Absolute NFL lock.

2) Jashon Robertson & Dylan Wiesman - Both making pre-season all-SEC teams. Coupled with Thomas, we are rock solid up middle.

3) Chance Hall - Personally, I like him at RT.

4) Drew Richmond - We have our highest rated 5 star prospect at the most important position on the team with a redshirt year under belt. He is a freshman, so there will be a few growing pains. But, Drew is going to be a stud.

5) Brett Kendrick - 6'6" 320 pounds of solid depth. Would be starting for most SEC teams. Can play three positions.

6) Charles Mosley - In best shape of life. High school mega-star. Finally ready to handle LG as needed.

7) Venzell Boulware - Can play in SEC.

8) Austin Sanders - Blood runs orange. Red-shirted. Ready to play.

9) Jack Jones - A one-man street fight at RG. Learned a ton from last year. Ready to be more consistent.

We are ten deep and can easily redshirt the entire freshman class. On the OL, we are loaded for years to come. IMHO, the vast majority of the credit goes to the position coach..........Don Mahoney!

Mahoney is da man!

Bowlware will start at LG once Ribertson leaves

Mahoney gets mentioned all of the time by recruits. They seem to like him and his coaching style. The only reason people on here don't like him is that he was having to use walkons, full on VFLs but walkons nonetheless, to try and block for a non-mobile QB in a read option offense where the non-mobile QB never kept the ball on the option. Of course the OL is gonna look like a weak link. The opposing D's knew that Worley would never keep it. As soon as Dibbs took over the OL play improved because the main cog now better fit the machine. I think Mahoney may be better than some think but it is convenient to blame him for slower that demanded progress.

Thanks for giving me your opinion, this is what I thought also but I admit I am not the best judge as to who is a good position coach or not! To judge him on what he had to work with when he first got here seemed a little unfair..

That's why I kinda think there is something personal to the EXTREME criticism of Mahoney and Martinez in particular by certain posters who I can't name lest my post be sent to the void. It is a valid argument I think. I just don't think Mahoney is all that bad based on exactly the reasons you just mentioned.

A bunch of seniors opposed to, and ill suited for a scheme that Mahoney was told to implement immediately.

A certain poster with bad grammar and bad spelling that calls others dumbazz and idiot? That poster?

Chaney was only coming to UGA if Kirby could get Pittman (according to Schlabach). I don't think Pittman is/was a drinking buddy of Chaney's, he is a good coach.

Chaney looks rough BTW, that fatty liver disease. Was he given the mini-fridge, perhaps?

Chaney and Pittman are very well acquainted. The reason Pittman got the job at UT was strictly due to Chaney. Their relationship goes back to the NFL so Chaney once told me. I'll ask the next time I speak with him i. The next day or so.

Pittman isn't looking very healthy either. Both of those guys are carrying way too much weight.

The thing about Pittman; he changes jobs every 2-3 years. As a High School Junior, if Max is signed up with UGA because of Sam, that is a mistake. Look at his resume. At best, Pittman might coach Wray for one year. Then he will be moving on to greener pastures elsewhere.

If Max wants to be a Physical Therapist, then UGA is an ok choice. If Max wants to play in the NFL, then he needs to be a Vol.

So Wray is planning on being at UGA 7-8 years? You do know that's a doctorate degree right? Maybe his parents left that part out.

I take it you didn't watch the 35 minute interview like I did. UGA has a "Pre-Physical Therapy" program, which is what Max said he's interested in. The "Pre-Physical Therapy" program is a 15 hour elective that is part of the "Exercise and Sport Science" major. I don't think he's planning on being at UGA for 7-8 years. He said one reason he chose UGA is because of Pittman's reputation of putting guys in the NFL. Sounds like his plan is to get drafted in four or five years.

So because a kid or his parents doesn't share his feelings for the world to see, there's nothing to the story? I doubt very seriously the Wrays would look into a camera with a stern look and openly admit part of their decision was based on their perception of being dissed by Tennessee. Sounds like a very naive way of looking at things. Besides, you're on a message board. That's what we do discuss recruiting and how specific recruitments go down. There have been multiple people outside of Hubbs and Fortenberry that have confirmed this story, including the barbershop badass. If a person claims his decision was based on one thing and then switches their narrative, then yes that's not being honest. It doesn't matter why he picked UGA, so why change the story?

And do you even know what 'homer' means? It's not predicting kids to other schools to your paying clientele. Of course, a UGA fan wouldn't understand that concept seeing as though their sites tell their board members they are getting every recruit and all is well in their snowglobe. And you do realize 2018 is a long time before this kid shoots UGA his letter of intent, yes?

The fact that Wray and his parents are "Not" publicly saying negative things about the Tenn staff is honorably IMO. You called his family dishonest because publicly he is saying that he likes Pittman and likes UGA's "Pre-Physical Therapy" program. Apparently in order for he and his parents to be honest in your eyes they need to publicly say Max chose Georgia because Max...likes Pittman, likes the Pre-Physical Therapy program...and feels dissed that he wasn't offered sooner by Tenn.

I can think of 100 scenarios where butt-hurt fans or even staff can take a non public comment made by a recruit's parents and blow it out of proportion. Happens all the time in the real world. I promise you if Max had committed to Tenn, you'll would be raving about the kid and his parents.

Also, I've never been a member of any of the UGA pay sites. Most of my views on recruiting come from interviews done by the players, their parents, and sometimes their coaches; as well as following the visits.

Forget about all that fluff. Tennessee has a 'Pre-Physical Therapy' program and an O-Line coach who are equal/better than UGA.

My question...did Max say UT slow played him?

Lol. Gay perception? You mean like thinking you're a 'real man' because you coach kiddy football? Saying things like 'mic drop' because in that pea brain of yours you feel you proved something? My lane is wherever I want it to be. And right now it goes straight through your dumbass rhetoric. If Buck feels the way you described he's an ungrateful sob. If he didn't, maybe he can upgrade in the character department and find your replacement. And out of that list, several of those kids were recruited by a different staff, several couldn't hack it in college, and only a handful have made a meaningful contribution and were recruited by this staff. Sounds to me you think you and others like you know how to run UTs program better than the coaches. Maybe they told guys like you to stay in your lane, and that's were the butthurt began. Pick up your mic, you dropped something.

Once again you've lied to yourself several couldn't couldn't hack it? What a lair you are. Only Sawyers didn't pan out. Meaningful contributions lol, another lie thru your hard core keyboard fingers. Every kid we've sent has contributed and/or started in the past except Sawyers. What a clown and Buck does feel as I've said. He has fulfilled every obligation he has had with UT, and done extra to this point. So once again you're theory is stupid and clownlike because we're alking about sending VFLs to UT. The resume speaks for itself regardless of what staff it was or is.

I saw we've offered 12 instate kids for 2019 thus far. Do you guys work with any of those 12 recruits?

Is Ribertson the one that hops everywhere and eats all those bugs? Lives over on Lillypad Lane?

J/K, I know what you meant. The great thing about how our OL recruiting has gone for the past several years, since Butch and Mahoney got here, is that we have talent all across the line. In a couple of years when Butch's OL classes become draft eligible we will see what kind of OL coach Mahoney has been here at UT. I suspect that we will see a lot of VFL's littering NFL OLs in years to come!

I looked at your post Leb because I was curious for once what you were asking...That's actually a good question. For me I'll say I hope the heck not. Especially if they are WRs, OLs or DBs. Cause according to posters which shall not be named, all those position coaches are the worst idiots in CFB.

Don't think many people are butt hurt about this kid's committment. Would we like to see a state product in Orange? Of course..

But in case you weren't aware, some teams already have an Oline, with depth. OL is one position where we can allow to slip a bit.

If Wray wants a spot im sure he will get it, if not the online's success won't depend on him.

Edit: there's a reason this thread hardly has any posts
