Meh, I'm almost to the point of of not caring. There is no such thing as "committed but completely open to all schools".
I want talent but not in the form of Hurd or Williams.
I give the kid a small pass because of changes in position coaches but he's about used that pass up. At least for me.
With the magnitude of change brings uncertainty. Also while others have tried to offset the change that was known to come AT wants to make sure he meshes with his position coach. Azzani grew leaps and bounds and built strong relationships. In the end I think he will go nowhere but UT. So save the panic and he wants attention stuff, nobody wants to make a blind decision w/o feeling secure and safe. Vols still lead as they have in the past.
This is a smart move by Alontae.
He is just wanting to make sure the new coach and staff still want him once the new hire is on board.
Either Alontae will be recruited hard all over again or he will get the message pretty quickly that they are looking in another direction.
I think he's just waiting to see how he melds with his new position coach.
It's very possible. I'm just surprised he made the "open to everyone" comment so early.
Given he was already committed, just seems he could get to know the new coaches first. Not vice versa.
But, I also want what's best for each of these guys, whatever that is. Kids trying to navigate the largest decision of their young lives.
Meh....he may have jumped the gun a little on the "opened up to everyone" comment, but he's just covering his butt in case it doesn't work out with the new coach.
Can't blame him, and honestly, I think I would rather him say it now verses say late summer.
I agree. He probably should have waited a couple of weeks. I just write that off as being a teenager. Most aren't known for their patience before reacting to a situation.
Maybe Butch should hire the AD. He's firing, hiring and moving people around like it's nobody's business right now. I've been pretty impressed with the way he's gone about it too.
