'18 TN QB/WR Alontae Taylor (UT commit 6/18/16)

Neither are you and I and we don't even have the youth excuse.
These days I just hope things happen faster so I see the results before I die. Or at least while I can still remember them.

Hell. I don't remember typing the post you responded to...lol.

I think he's putting together a real staff.
I even feel good about the Scott promotion.
Not going to complain about Canales given that we didn't even have a QB coach. Can't claim downgrade but wouldn't have objected to a little bit more... :)

I've actually been good with the Scott promotion since day one. Canales is really the only question mark to me and like you said...even as a question mark, it is still an upgrade from not having a QB coach at all.

I'm good with 90% of the moves and only have questions about the other 10%. Nothing he's doing has me saying "what the fu**?"

Agreed. Now if the defense shows the turnaround it needs.
We had offensive issues but still. A decent defense last year, we're sitting 10-2 and this offseason goes a lot differently.

I'm holding out hope that next year can be a good year, even with losing the players we have lost. I know we pulled LSU next year and GA and FL should be improved, but all in all, the schedule is favorable. We don't have any grueling streaks of games to fight through like we have in the past several years. I don't think we have more than two "tough" games in a row before either an OOC game or bye week this year. That could help a lot.

Yeah I don't feel too bad about anything except for the question mark of QB play and the undeniable loss of Barnett.
In the QB play could be fine. Dobbs was electric but if somebody can pass like he runs, we could still get the same results.
As long as they're ready mentally to handle the college game.

Biggest loss on the team IMO. Dobbs saved our butts a few times last year, but I think a lot of the woes on offense (which I still thought was good overall) can be fixed with better scheming. It's one of the reasons I'm good with the Scott hire. Better use of TE's (whether blocking, or/but most assuredly in the passing game) should overcome a lot of the issues we had last year. I think Scott can/will bring that to the table.

QB competition should (hopefully) be fun to watch through the Spring and Summer. I'm not rooting for any of them over any of the others right now. Just get the right guy on the field, regardless of what year he is in, or whether he has taken an in game snap or not to this point. Dormady, JG, Jones, whoever. Put the best QB on the field and give him a chance to win.

You wat mate??

I agree with the rest, but you do realize that Florida is losing almost all of their defensive production that were leftovers from the Muschamp era, right? I think UF falls off a bit next year.

Our young streak versus UGA probably ends next year, but we should have a two game streak versus UF after next season.

Yeah. I realized after I hit submit that i had a big swing and a miss on that one, but really was just too damn lazy to go back and change it.

Was just thinking....the guy that was complaining about all the sh** talk over in the other thread obviously doesn't peruse too many threads. Three of the people smack talking each other in that thread are actually carrying on a football conversation in this thread, while smack talking in that one...lol.

If what I read a little while ago is true. We also have a new QC guy with 10 years coaching experience who was the asst WR coach for the Jaguars.

I think we'll be ok.

I actually think Butch did a good job with his offseason hires. Only thing he is missing is results on the field.

I agree. I think he stepped his offseason game up big time with these hires. My hope is he backs off of the defensive side of things and lets Shoop take the reigns. He don't have to back completely off on the offensive side of things, but he does need to relinquish a lot of control. Maintain his offensive philosophy if he wants, but let the coaches handle the scheming of his philosophy....and for gods sake...keep veto power during the game, but learn to control when using it....other than that...don't call plays. You have an OC...let him do his job.

Seriously, I think Butch could excel as a coach if he took more of a Dabo type role. Hire good people. Manage them, but let them do what you hired them for.

"We have been direct messaging back-and-forth on Twitter," Taylor said. I've been watching his videos on YouTube from when he was at Miami and I like the way he puts on the cleats and he doesn't just tell you how to do it but he shows you how to do it. You can tell he has a lot of passion for what he does and he has a lot of juice when he coaches."

Also there are 12 instate players in the top 250 nationally according to Rivals.

Have we ever had that many kids in the top 250 before? Its got to he a record.

It would be nice to land 10 of the 12. We would be halfway to a top 5 recruiting class just off the instate kids.

Unprecedented depth of talent instate this year

He also just texted about having a good conversation with Coach Beard (KB). I've seen on some of his videos and interviews that players and media refer to him as (coach) KB.
