What "con" is that exactly? Meyer is a much more proven commodity than Butch at this point.
Also proven at not losing to crappy opponents and making it to playoffs.Proven at having zero morals in regards to off the field behavior of his players. Proven at running like a scared little puppy from competition.
So, same as Butch? As to running back development, he's placed one in the pros that he recruited. He's a slimeball but you can love him, idgad.
This is complete speculation based on your biases, not facts. He'd probably have done just fine in the East the past few years. His division has been comparable, even stronger in 2015 and 2016. Also, he's actually beaten Bama and Oklahoma. Also, he would have done no better here than Butch has done. He doesn't perform well when faced with equal or better competition. Expect his heart to start acting up again if Harbaugh becomes his nemesis.
Butch has had at least two now. Isaiah Pead is number two. His career ended after injuries from a car crash while he was with Miami and looked to be productive. Also proven at not losing to crappy opponents and making it to playoffs.
So, same as Butch?
Also, I actually really hate the guy. I'm just able to look at things rationally. Just because I dislike Meyer doesn't mean I pretend Teague has been "conned" to make my fragile ego feel better.

2012 4* Brionte Dunn - seems to be a decent back but has really Dunn little.
2012 4* warren Ball transferred to Ackron, he's a zip now.
2013 4* Dontre Wilson - moved to WR, signed free agent deal in the pros.
2013 4* Ezekiel Elliot - he finally hit on one.
2014 doesn't look like they took a rb in 14
2015 4* Mike Weber seems to be a decent back. Ran for 1000 last year, RS SOPH.
2016 4* Antonio Williams, meh freshman season. TBD I guess.
2016 4* Demario McCall - the most productive of the freshmen. Had 270 yards.
Ther than Ezekiel Elliot, none of these scream elite as has been mentioned prior. In my opinion, Meyer is not some kind of RB guru. He may have an argument for some other positions, DB, but running back is not one of them.

That's partly just what happens when you draft a bunch of 4* RBs though.
He's had 3 starting RBs since he came to OSU. One he inherited and was drafted. One took over as a sophomore, had two great seasons, and went round one. The third is currently a RS SO coming off a 1000 yard season.
I agree Meyer doesn't run a system that really showcases RBs...usually his running game somewhat flows through their QBs. But that doesn't matter quite as much to kids when you're making it to the playoffs 2/3 years.
Weber will probably be a decent back but while he did rush for 1000 he had only four 100 yard + games. The rest he probably averaged 50-60 y/g. He's not some RB nostradamus as has been stated here yesterday.
That's exactly why Meyer left Florida, he knew he couldn't have that kind of success. He went for the conference where he would have 1-2 regular season games a year and the rest practice games. Makes that step to the playoffs so much easier.
Exactly. I don't get why people weren't wanting to give Meyer credit for Hyde, but you've gotta be consistent about it. If Meyer doesn't get credit for Hyde, why does Butch get credit for Pead?

I didn't read the whole thread. But I completely agree with you. Some coaches have the ability to make players better although, I will say that urban has always had a deficiency in the running back department.
