'18 TN RB Master Teague

What "con" is that exactly? Meyer is a much more proven commodity than Butch at this point.

Proven at having zero morals in regards to off the field behavior of his players. Proven at running like a scared little puppy from competition.

As to running back development, he's placed one in the pros that he recruited. He's a slimeball but you can love him, idgad.

Also, he would have done no better here than Butch has done. He doesn't perform well when faced with equal or better competition. Expect his heart to start acting up again if Harbaugh becomes his nemesis.

Also proven at not losing to crappy opponents and making it to playoffs.

So, same as Butch?

Also, I actually really hate the guy. I'm just able to look at things rationally. Just because I dislike Meyer doesn't mean I pretend Teague has been "conned" to make my fragile ego feel better.

This is complete speculation based on your biases, not facts. He'd probably have done just fine in the East the past few years. His division has been comparable, even stronger in 2015 and 2016. Also, he's actually beaten Bama and Oklahoma.

Butch has had at least two now. Isaiah Pead is number two. His career ended after injuries from a car crash while he was with Miami and looked to be productive.

2012 4* Brionte Dunn - seems to be a decent back but has really Dunn little.
2012 4* warren Ball transferred to Ackron, he's a zip now.
2013 4* Dontre Wilson - moved to WR, signed free agent deal in the pros.
2013 4* Ezekiel Elliot - he finally hit on one.
2014 doesn't look like they took a rb in 14
2015 4* Mike Weber seems to be a decent back. Ran for 1000 last year, RS SOPH.
2016 4* Antonio Williams, meh freshman season. TBD I guess.
2016 4* Demario McCall - the most productive of the freshmen. Had 270 yards.

Ther than Ezekiel Elliot, none of these scream elite as has been mentioned prior. In my opinion, Meyer is not some kind of RB guru. He may have an argument for some other positions, DB, but running back is not one of them.

Meyer is a slime ball. He was conned and it has nothing to do with my ego but maybe you should check yours as you feel the need to judge others. Do I need to point out the behaviors of his past players? Or in your world does that matter?

Where did I compare him to Butch except in the last where I was speculating as you do with 99% of your post? As to that last sentence are you not speculating? Am I not allowed to speculate when my opinion differs from yours?

He probably would have been on par with what Butch has done. He didnt ave the ball and chain of a dysfunctional administration that Butch had to deal with.

That's partly just what happens when you draft a bunch of 4* RBs though.

He's had 3 starting RBs since he came to OSU. One he inherited and was drafted. One took over as a sophomore, had two great seasons, and went round one. The third is currently a RS SO coming off a 1000 yard season.

I agree Meyer doesn't run a system that really showcases RBs...usually his running game somewhat flows through their QBs. But that doesn't matter quite as much to kids when you're making it to the playoffs 2/3 years.

Pead committed to and played 2008 and 2009 for Brain Kelly. If Meyer doesn't get credit for Hyde, Butch shouldn't for Pead.

This is a very compelling argument. Quite frankly he had to use Percy at running back quite a bit at Florida because of the lack of production he got from the backs.

Weber will probably be a decent back but while he did rush for 1000 he had only four 100 yard + games. The rest he probably averaged 50-60 y/g. He's not some RB nostradamus as has been stated here yesterday.

That's exactly why Meyer left Florida, he knew he couldn't have that kind of success. He went for the conference where he would have 1-2 regular season games a year and the rest practice games. Makes that step to the playoffs so much easier.

This. Let's also not forget the fact that Florida fans suck balls.

Exactly. I don't get why people weren't wanting to give Meyer credit for Hyde, but you've gotta be consistent about it. If Meyer doesn't get credit for Hyde, why does Butch get credit for Pead?

I didn't read the whole thread. But I completely agree with you. Some coaches have the ability to make players better although, I will say that urban has always had a deficiency in the running back department.

He also had 2 90 yard games and averaged over 6 ypc on the season.

Also, I have no idea wtf "RB Nostradamus" is supposed to mean since Nostradamus wasn't even good at what he did.

When he left the East was fairly strong because Spurrier had USCe on the rise and Richt had UGA peaking. Plus having to play (a then stronger) LSU every year was nearly as tough a draw as Bama. I do agree his path to the post season has been much easier at OSU than it was at UF during his time there (though with UM and PSU rising, that gap is closing somewhat).

But the East isn't nearly what it was in 2010 anymore. It's fallen a lot since then. The East in 2015 or 2016 would have been an absolute cakewalk for him compared to what he faced 7-8 years ago. And their 2015/2016 schedules were very comparable to ours overall.

That he cares about being a mentor and leading young men into adulthood. His program covered up so many things and it didn't help them become productive citizens. Tebow didn't need anyone as a mentor because he had plenty of support. Aaron Hernandez did and all he got was things covered up which led him to think because of his athletic prowess, he would not ever suffer consequences for his actions. Some won't ever change who they are regardless of the people in their lives and I realize that. But, Meyer cares more about his own ego and winning and will do anything and use anybody for his own selfish gain. If that's who you want to lead your son as a coach then by all means, go play for him. It's not about OSU or Ohio. Those are preferences kids choose. But as a parent trying to guide a kid, men like Meyers are people you should try to avoid.

I do agree with this somewhat. His best rushing attacks have usually featured QBs quite a bit in the run game at th expense of RBs, IMO.

And I think that's something that can be used against them on the recruiting trail, if you can sell the RB you're recruiting that he'll have as good a chance at playing for championships at your school as at Urban's.

And that's a tough sell for 9/10 coaches.
