Nobody is saying Meyer isn't a good coach. The thing with Teague is he made it seem like faith and integrity were an integral part of his recruitment. So, for him to choose OSU makes it seem like he was duped. Now, if he were basing his decision on a winning coach/program, then it would be a different story.
So much crap gets slung around during a recruitment that everyone ends up stinking. You've got to understand almost all programs are slinging mud. I think a lot of the perspective on character and integrity is subjective. Wins and losses are more tangible.
In today's society, with all the pressures from social media, etc, people very often say one thing and do another. They say what will put them in the best light for the twitter/facebook/internet masses. It's all about "likes" and "follows" these days. I've found it far better to watch what a person does vs what they say. That's where the rubber meets the road anyway. As they say....talk is cheap....especially in recruiting.

I don't know who's butthurt but I do think if Teague were an out of state recruit he wouldn't have been anywhere near the top of the RB board.
But it's also natural for feelings to happen when a kid chooses an OOS school, especially after talking god this and god that and then chooses Urban Meyer over the Vols. No way God would send a kid to that ahole. JMO
The truth seems to be more like the kid REAAAALLLYYY wanted to go to OSU and as soon as he received the offer it was over. Everything else was just smoke and mirrors.
Good luck to him.
I don't think the arguments on this thread is about Teague. It's about this nonsensical false narrative you use to touch yourself at night.
You boast about uga being on a different level for recruits but when we beat them at their house, it's discounted.
You harp on drafts yet we just had 6 in Butchs FIRST class and that class was the transition into the new coach so it's not even the full, have a year, type of class. But now, suddenly, that doesn't matter because it doesn't fit your narrative.
You act like Ut doesn't have any pros and name Gurley as a celebrity.
The funny thing to me is that you actually get on this pedestal about being all knowing yet have those two faced arguments all the time.
You point out all these things against UT but if OSU and UT got switched in circumstance you'd say "well UT couldn't score a point in the playoff and had a slaw schedule. Well Ut doesn't produce RBs in the NFL. Other positions don't count. Well OSU has Peyton Manning, who everyone knows, and UT doesn't have anyone close to his pedigree. National championship is the past. Clemson and Bama are most recent."
That's you. That's the dude you are. That's the dude that people have a problem with. Every program has it's flaws but you act like UT is the only one with them. I'm not mad. I am sad for you, though.
We didn't lose "pretty much our entire starting DL" last year. We had 3 of 4 starters out there the entire season, Barnett, Vickers and Vereen. Only starter lost was OBrien, and that wasn't until after game 6. We lost two second string DTs in KMac and Tuttle and Alexis Johnson never got in shape so that he could contribute.
We heard all of that from a 3rd party though. We don't know what we're the integral parts for him, really. Just what someone who fancies himself a family friend assumed was.
We have heard it from Volatil also. I think that we need to understand that very few recruits and their parents only look at the bottom line. They want someone who can mentor them. Urban is simply extremely good at convincing players and parents that he will help to develop them as good people as well as improve at players. I don't know how he does it, but he definitely does it very well.
Yep Blaze didn't say anything out of line. Teague and family are high moral high character folks. Have said it many times on here this is the same Urban that landed Tim Tebow in Florida. Recruiting is so dirty. These coaches will say/do anything. Told y'all about Kirby and how religious he gets with religious recruits. Teague is no different than any other kid who is highly impressionable. Doesn't hurt to have multiple rings on your hand when selling a program also.
There have been some missteps from Urban since Tebow was recruited to FL though. Marques Thomas, Aaron Hernandez etc.
He still knows how to sell.
I'm not disagreeing with anyone about Urb being a slimy POS though.
I'm just saying what Blaze said about the MT and family is inline with what I know. Only thing we didn't agree on was he thought Teague was a Vol. There was absolutely nothing to suggest that late in his recruitment. No one knew. Blaze might have been hoping he was and I completely get that.
Nah, Meyer is the end all be all. He would've been able to win a national championship by year 2.
Lol...Meyer would have had a heart attack by year 3, if he would have taken over this program. He couldn't have handled it. Breakerboy seems to be more of a buckeye fan than a Vol fan. JMO
I guess 3 nattys at two different programs don't mean anything now.
Kinda funny when you think about it. It's the HC's job to hire the quality assistants, but then the argument becomes that he only won a championship because of quality assistants. The same could be said of Fulmer, we saw how that went when he didn't choose well. And then there's Dabo...Clemsoning, and then hiring staff and winning. Who knows, maybe even old Butch will eventually put together a winning staff. Will he be a good coach then?
Urbs may be a bad man with a weak heart, but he has recruited teams and staff capable of winning championships, and he's done it two places. I'm not sure he gets enough credit for winning the NC with his third string QB, but that was more impressive than winning with Tebow.
No matter the HC, I think there's something to be said for someone who is able to find and surround himself with high quality assistants.
Personally I'm hoping people will be making the same criticism of Butch 3-4 years down the road and we see guys like Scott and Shoop as big time P5 coaches.
Sure he gets credit! Part of the HC package. Just as he gets the blame for not replacing Mullen and Herman properly. Can't be disregarded. The sheer fall of his Florida teams and the dip in performance of his highly talented tOSU squads post OC departures are surely noted by high standard Nega-Eyes.![]()
