19 students, 3 adults dead in Texas elementary shooting.

What does it matter whether 10x3 = 30 or 15x2=30. What difference does it make? You think the loved ones grieve any less in “smaller shootings “?
It makes Chicago FAR more dangerous. You can be gunned down in the streets anywhere there. You need to be able to dodge bullets like Neo if you want to live in Chicago (at least for long).

So saddening and sickening. **** like this is why America will never ever be "the greatest country in the world." Absolute ********.

For when Russia invades..

Already happened

When it comes to formulating preventive measures? They are not the same. On one hand, you have a lone gunmen who is indiscriminately shooting as many people as he possibly can... the only agenda is mass murder. The types of crimes you are trying to include as "mass shootings" are very different. There typically are gang-related crimes involved such as burglary, drug trafficking and opposition elimination. They are different crimes, with different solutions.

Good point. If he had edited his post to delete the contents, then his post would have remained. I sometimes self-edit my own posts when, upon reflection, I realize that I stepped out-of-bounds in a comment.
I don’t know that what he’s saying about Chicago is technically wrong, but things there seem close enough that it’s not really worth arguing about.

Didn't he engage with officers right before entering the school? What is a teacher armed with a pistol going to do to an armored gunman that the cops could not?
TRY to save lives of kids that would die anyway with or without an attempt. You people…….. smfh…. Just wow

For those of you wondering how people seem to be able to dig their heels in when situations like these arise, this is an excellent rundown of the general thought process.

There are things I do not agree with in this video concerning weapons policies, but the psychological introspection is very valuable.

How about let's stay on topic. I'm not the Governor of Texas, and I don't claim to have the answers. Gov. Abbott's response to these mass shooting incidents in the past has been to make it even easier to both purchase a gun, and to carry a gun in Texas. It hasn't helped to prevent these shootings from happening.

How has Abbott made it easier to purchase a weapon? Did he suspend federal regulations and laws in TX?

Ok that’s fair enough.

A few weeks ago this site was all aflutter with discussions about how teachers can’t be trusted not to groom children for future sexual molestation, and we’ve seen plenty of teachers boning their students, so I’m not sure your idea actually makes enough sense to be accepted based on arguments like “omg stfu” and “smfh wow.”

Oh piss off. You aren't even considering the liabilities that come with arming teachers. You're just spewing some emotionally charged nonsense.

Your answer to my question sucks ass. Try again.

This is nonsensical cherry-picking.

There have been mass shootings in TX, OH, IN, MI and FL over the last 10 years, and all have Republican Govs.

This is a mental health crisis, not a gun crisis or a political leadership issue.

While you bozos bicker about gun rights, nothing is being done to actually address the root cause.

Because the bozos that want to restrict gun rights refuse to even consider the root cause.

Just saying that is a puss way of thinking to do nothing at all and watch kids die rather than grab a single handgun available to you vs 2 AR-15s. If I’m going to die anyway, I’ll aim a 9mm at a freaking tank to try and save a group of kids. Don’t talk to me about ideas when the ideas in place are failing right before your eyes

Liabilities that come from arming teachers? You just have the federal government issue a blanket decree waiving any such liabilities. Does that sound the least bit familiar?

So who shoots the teacher that goes nuts and starts shooting with their school issued firearm?
