19 students, 3 adults dead in Texas elementary shooting.

Instead of sending 40 billion to Ukraine, we could get an armed guard and enact 1 way entry into all schools during school hours. The armed guard would be permanently located at the entry. This would be in addition to whatever SRO resources the particular state/county would like to enact on their own. Also instead of "arming all the teachers" that some want to do, I think designating (volunteer based) 2 concealed carry employees with training per school, in which only the principal, SRO, guard, and said employees are aware of. That gives you potentially 4 people at every school capable of stepping up and deterring/stopping the threat in these situations.

We spend so many resources on crap outside of our borders (and inside our borders), surely we can nix some bloat, and it wouldn't even cost extra money.

I don’t for a minute believe that there’s an easy solution just laying around out there for people to implement, and I think the reason no real solutions get implemented is essentially the same. People don’t agree about a solution. Also, we lose interest in these stories too quickly, and have made it political suicide for representatives to try to find common ground.

What happened to you? You posted something reasonable that I agree with...

... but you can't involuntarily institutionalize someone until they have either brought harm, or threatened to bring harm. to themselves or someone else. Unfortunately, a shooting spree is often the first such episode ....

.... and what do you do when a parent was also their enabler?

In the case of the Sandy Hook shooter, Adam Lanza, he was clearly mentally ill. He had been diagnosed with Asperger's and had obvious behavioral problems that were likely associated with a lifetime of being bullied by classmates. Now, because his mother was a stupid person, she kept a large stockpile of firearms in their home, and she never took any precautions to safeguard them from his access. On December 14, 2012, Adam Lanza armed himself with his stupid mother's loaded guns, and then shot and killed his stupid mother. Lanza then drove his dead stupid mother's car 5 miles to Sandy Hook Elementary school and killed 20 first grade children and 6 teachers, before killing himself. These crimes didn't even leave authorities with anyone to punish. Alas, Adam Lanza and his stupid mother were already dead. So, what do you do about this? Nothing.

We live in a free country and with freedom comes risk.

>Sam, 20, started posting photos to build confidence after she transitioned. Yesterday, those photos were used against her trolls falsely claimed she was the Uvalde Texas shooter. She spoke to NBC News in an article from me,
JoYurcaba and oneunderscore__

>Posts using Sam’s likeness and falsey saying the killer was trans were spread on Facebook and Twitter and were up for hours. The baseless claim was echoed by Alex Jones, Candace Owens, and Rep Paul Gosar.

Bet this gets a "too bad" from this forum, if not out right hostility and hatred.

Careful, you'll trigger some sensitive individuals and they will avalanche with their emotions and feelz in your direction.

Not at all. Mental illness goes hand in hand with the issues at hand.

Wow, if you think some of the comments on here are nuts, turn on ESPN. The WNBA player commenting first brought up "white supremacy" in her diatribe. The next one said it's easier to get guns than baby formula. Now the anchorwoman says says it shouldn't be a job requirement for a 30 year old teacher to stand up to an assault rifle.

Not one mention of mental health.

Not one mention of school security.

Did they have any securtiy at all? At my son's grammar school, there is only one way in, the front doors. It's a double door. You go through the first one, then need to show your driver's license (and they take your photo) and the reason for your visit. If that flies, they let you into the front office, check you credentials again, then let you in the second entrance leading to the classrooms. I doubt this guy would have passed the first door carrying two guns.;)

Shouldn't let anyone in the school. You buzz. They confirm. Kid escorted out.

So all the people killed were in the same class room. Aren't all class rooms supposed to be locked? That's how it is "supposed" to be here.
From what's been released so far, the gunman went into a side entrance and in a classroom. It was said to be a single class room but I read a report last night that said it was two rooms joined together.
