19 students, 3 adults dead in Texas elementary shooting.

I didn’t propose any of that. I merely was pointing to mental illness being the root issue, not the tool. I’m not interested in restricting “assault weapons” capable of causing “mass casualties” I’m not interested in parsing how many people dying is ok or not requiring action.
I’m only saying there have been many similar suggestions and they all sound like red flag. The only way to fight gunfire is with gunfire. Otherwise the military would be issued flashlights and whistles

I'm an intelligent person who can see that we have huge problem in this country with easy access to guns. Whether it's gang members shooting rivals in Chicago or a troubled youth killing kids at a school, it's just obvious to everyone except the clinically deluded that gun access needs to be addressed.
OMG! A reasonable opinion.....even if you are a democrat.....

I see Trump has recommitted to going to the NRA rally. Cruz and Abbot not sure about.

Known what they don't allow at the NRA rally?

Guns.

Guess they don't want people to be able to defend themselves.

Leftist ways of teaching, CRT, LG pride, lack of firearms with school staff, taking God out of everything. Etc

Yeah, those definitely caused school shootings. It's the godless queers!

Speaking of school, it really is a shame to see how the public education system failed you so miserably.

Guns are freely welcomed in all the NRA events unless there is a specific case warranting a change … like a former POTUS whom has a Secret Service detail that forbids it. We pointed this out to you disingenuous fools the last time Trump spoke at the NRA convention.

No there isn’t. The 2nd amendment exists in part to combat a tyrannical government if it ever comes to that.
Yeah you never know when you will need that AR 15 for that revolution that comes up about every 250 years or so. ;)

Somebody is stupidly conflating the right to bear arms with the right to self defense again. We realize y’all don’t have the mental capacity to separate the issues so we’re happy to explain. You’re welcome

Of course, Donald Trump is still down with the NRA ...

Until they disassociate from Wayne LaPierre, the NRA stands more for embezzlement, wasteful spending, and for the misappropriation of private funds, than they do for the advocacy of gun-ownership and the protection of 2nd Amendment rights for law-abiding Americans. With the Trump Foundation in mind, those immoral, self-serving acts of greed are right up Donald Trump's alley.

Since everyone is so concerned about guns at the NRA convention. You’re welcome.

Guns are banned during Trump's upcoming speech at the NRA conference — NPR

According to the NRA, the Secret Service is taking control of the hall during Trump's speech and is prohibiting attendees from having firearms, firearms accessories and knives. Ammunition, laser pointers, pepper spray, toy guns, backpacks and other items also won't be allowed.

The Secret Service will search attendees with magnetometers before they enter the hall, the NRA said.

This isn't the first time firearms have been off-limits during a part of the gun group's annual convention. In 2018 a similar prohibition was put in place during a speech by then-Vice President Mike Pence.

Wait, this dude had a shootout with 2 cops before entering the school?

So much for armed officers as a solution.

local dealer, reported to be Daniel Defen$$$$$e rifles bought a couple of days apart with ammo purchased on one of the days in between the rifle purchases.... all in the last two or three weeks.

edit here is a link

Rifle found on gunman after mass shooting at Texas elementary school manufactured by business founded in Savannah

Dont know about you, but when I was 18 I could not afford to purchase much of anything, much less multi thousands of dollars of weaponry and ammo

Same hypocrisy with the Dem convention requiring IDs to enter

But there's a reason people don't rob gun shops

Disclaimer: I am not an Israeli or Jewish. My opinions are based on (a) dated knowledge of how Israel defends its' interior; (b) personal experience in 1992; and (c) having had the best Active Shooter training I've ever participated in at the hands of an export Israeli Military Police Unit. Those folks are no joke. That being said...

Anybody remember the last time Hamas, or any one of a number of other organizations or states that hate Israel carried out a successful active shooter attack inside the borders of Israel? Or at a school? No?

Any idea why?

Because Israel is an armed...and a well armed state. And they guard their critical infrastructure...military facilities, ports, synagogues, airports, bus stations, and yes...schools...with well-armed and well-trained personnel. They use a layered security structure that has to be seen to fully understand how good they are at it.

Hate it, but that's where we are right now in the U.S. It's time to start killing those who would harm our children at the front doors, instead of after they've made entry. It's time to make our schools, airports, churches, and shopping malls hard targets. This isn't a gun control issue, this is a criminal control issue. And the only thing a bully understands is fear.

None of us, me included, really want armed cops or guards inside our schools. But if you had to choose between a retired cop or Army Ranger walking the halls armed and ready...or a knock at your door from the Police Chaplain with bad news about your child or grandchild...personally, I'll take my chances with the old Army guy, or the cop.

You know why pawn shops rarely get robbed? Because everyone's knows that there's at least one gun on the hip inside. Usually more.

Predators rarely hit hard targets. So make our schools hard targets. Or try to figure out how to circumvent the Second Amendment, and seize, what...11, 12, 13 million guns already out there? Yeah...much cheaper, more effective, and legal to put good men and women who are willing to go in harms way inside those hallways. Rumor has it that it was a U.S. Border Patrol Agent who entered the school, alone, and pinned down the shooter. Thank God he wasn't riding a horse, or he'd likely be under investigation for his abusive behavior, right?

Like all, I am sick of seeing innocent children being killed. Unlike the mainstream media and those of certain political affiliations, I understand that this is not a gun control issue, it's a criminal control issue. I'll offer Chicago, Illinois...one of the most heavily gun-controlled cities, in one of the most heavily gun-controlled states...as Exhibit "A". Any idea how many people have been shot, and killed, in the last 30 days? Hint: It's a much bigger number than what just happened in Uvalde, Texas.

If Black Lives Matter...and they do...why isn't the nation in a tizzy over what happens on any given weekend in Chicago?

My guess? There's no political leverage to be found in what has become the norm in Chicago. But Uvalde, Texas? Front page news. Never let a good crisis go to waste, right?

Rant over. I'll hang up and listen.
