Disclaimer: I am not an Israeli or Jewish. My opinions are based on (a) dated knowledge of how Israel defends its' interior; (b) personal experience in 1992; and (c) having had the best Active Shooter training I've ever participated in at the hands of an export Israeli Military Police Unit. Those folks are no joke. That being said...
Anybody remember the last time Hamas, or any one of a number of other organizations or states that hate Israel carried out a successful active shooter attack inside the borders of Israel? Or at a school? No?
Any idea why?
Because Israel is an armed...and a well armed state. And they guard their critical infrastructure...military facilities, ports, synagogues, airports, bus stations, and yes...schools...with well-armed and well-trained personnel. They use a layered security structure that has to be seen to fully understand how good they are at it.
Hate it, but that's where we are right now in the U.S. It's time to start killing those who would harm our children at the front doors, instead of after they've made entry. It's time to make our schools, airports, churches, and shopping malls hard targets. This isn't a gun control issue, this is a criminal control issue. And the only thing a bully understands is fear.
None of us, me included, really want armed cops or guards inside our schools. But if you had to choose between a retired cop or Army Ranger walking the halls armed and ready...or a knock at your door from the Police Chaplain with bad news about your child or grandchild...personally, I'll take my chances with the old Army guy, or the cop.
You know why pawn shops rarely get robbed? Because everyone's knows that there's at least one gun on the hip inside. Usually more.
Predators rarely hit hard targets. So make our schools hard targets. Or try to figure out how to circumvent the Second Amendment, and seize, what...11, 12, 13 million guns already out there? Yeah...much cheaper, more effective, and legal to put good men and women who are willing to go in harms way inside those hallways. Rumor has it that it was a U.S. Border Patrol Agent who entered the school, alone, and pinned down the shooter. Thank God he wasn't riding a horse, or he'd likely be under investigation for his abusive behavior, right?
Like all, I am sick of seeing innocent children being killed. Unlike the mainstream media and those of certain political affiliations, I understand that this is not a gun control issue, it's a criminal control issue. I'll offer Chicago, Illinois...one of the most heavily gun-controlled cities, in one of the most heavily gun-controlled states...as Exhibit "A". Any idea how many people have been shot, and killed, in the last 30 days? Hint: It's a much bigger number than what just happened in Uvalde, Texas.
If Black Lives Matter...and they do...why isn't the nation in a tizzy over what happens on any given weekend in Chicago?
My guess? There's no political leverage to be found in what has become the norm in Chicago. But Uvalde, Texas? Front page news. Never let a good crisis go to waste, right?
Rant over. I'll hang up and listen.
