Maybe because I joined the military when I was a junior in high school and was off to basic a month after graduation. If the government can hand me a gun at 17-18 then someone should be able to legally buy one at 18. There may be things to clean up on preventing people like you and the other mentally ill people from purchasing a gun but it shouldn’t trample on the rights of people that matter. Hard to say if any security ever meets our desired level because none of it is full proof. I know the people there and I’m confident they would do whatever it takes to keep our kids safe and that does give me some comfort.

If he has no financial responsibility, a job, and a desire then of course there is. My boss's 11 year old daughter works the snack bar at her brothers baseball games. Has over $1,000 saved up. Nothing going out makes it easy to save

Here in Florida you gotta be 21 to buy a rifle now. Idk about other states or Texas itself but according to ATF you gotta be 21 as well. If Texas is also 21, he had help.
