19 students, 3 adults dead in Texas elementary shooting.

its possible but unlikely. An 18 yr old working at a fast food restaurant being able to finance $2000 not once but twice is a stretch

I don’t find it unlikely at all. I hear used car lot commercials all the time “bring a pay stub showing you make $300 a week, and we’ll get you in a car! Come on down!”

Cops have no duty to protect anyone. I will put money on a teacher protecting the little kids if given the chance

I would imagine knowing and being inside with the intended victims would be motivating. That's not even counting the personal defense incentive.

So you're a teacher?

Maybe I’ve missed your entire opinion on this, but why would you have a problem with trained individuals with weapons protecting kids?

Trained individuals who are armed protect the presidents kids(example). Are the presidents children more important than all of the citizens in the country?

I think former military should be called on to provide protection(paid). I think they would do a tremendous job.

You don't get it at all. Reagan released a ton of homeless, of "special to the family," and whatnot and then ...... their caretakers died.

Before that, these "special family" met other "special family" and freaking reproduced because their caretaker family, which owned plenty of guns, was getting older and dying.

Well this isn't Reagan's 40s and 50s where family still lives close and those crazies who still lived in the old home place had Mom and Dad's old house, their guns, and they had kids they're going to raise chaotically.

So you have crazy people raising kids with plenty of weapons nearby........ what could possibly go wrong after Reagan?
Is that a roundabout way of saying that deinstitutionalising of people with certain conditions led to a rise in crime short term and long term?

I think the risk of the gun being misused far outweighs any potential benefit.

I'm not sure how sound this logic is. The duties of a teacher do not include engaging armed gunmen. Whether or not that armed teacher confronted a shooter, would depend on the teacher. Your analysis is idealistic.

I am in the education field. I am no longer in the classroom, but I was for several years. Expecting teachers to be armed and ready to shoot an intruder is one of the most ridiculous things I’ve ever heard. And then let’s pay them a whopping 40 grand (or less) per year. Many (maybe even most) teachers would lay down their lives for their students, it’s not a question of love or protective instincts. But where will a teachers responsibilities end?!
Knox county TN starts at $41K (no experience) and tops out at $72K plus opportunities for extra pay, and summers off where they can take PT jobs or be with family.
The teaching profession is not as great a financial sacrifice it once was.

I know there are armed teachers in my kids school. I know who at least one is and I have little to no doubt she would engage to save the kids. I also know any officer who refused to go would be fired and likely humiliated by my sheriff

The duties of a pilot didn't include engaging armed gunmen either.

I'd imagine something similar to the Federal Flight Deck Officer Program. Volunteers who qualify go through training and recertification.

This is nonsensical cherry-picking.

There have been mass shootings in TX, OH, IN, MI and FL over the last 10 years, and all have Republican Govs.

This is a mental health crisis, not a gun crisis or a political leadership issue.

While you bozos bicker about gun rights, nothing is being done to actually address the root cause.
I agree but what politician on either side has suggested addressing the actual issues

Actually I ALWAYS blame the violence in Chicago on gang activity and the ease that said gangs make straw gun purchases through the town of Gary Indiana. Chicago is a total clown show but I don’t think a Republican mayor could stop those idiots from shooting each other either.
Gangs are the issue. Not guns. There is a reason that Indiana doesn’t have the same amount of violence despite having “lax” gun laws

That shouldn't be an issue, but here we are and most people are more concerned about showing off their pro or anti-gun control bona fides.
That isn’t at all what this is about. This is about not being able to control evil nor criminals with todays policies in schools. I respect you Clark but you gotta keep up my man

So what I'm learning is an officer saw him go in to the school, and did nothing. He then stood outside and prevented screaming parents from entering the building. The shooter was in the school for some 40 minutes murdering children while the police were outside. Doing nothing. Those parents had to listen to the sounds of their children being murdered while the police did nothing to stop it except hold them back.

What a world we live in.

Guns aside the real issue is how easy this scum got into the school There should have been more safety measures no matter what the odds of this happening were

Wait didn't someone call the cops heroes ?

It shouldn’t involve the Feds, just like TSA shouldn’t. I can’t speak for other states, but Tennessee could easily afford to enhance school security by

1 Releasing anyone from jail serving time for anything related to rec drugs.
2 Legalizing rec drugs and using the taxes for school security.
3 Legalizing on-site casino gambling and using a portion of the profits for…. Well you get it.
This is dumb
