We need to ban public schools. I know that’s a sacrilege to progs whose 2 holy of holies are the public school and the abortion clinic which are not mentioned anywhere in the constitution.
While Madalyn O'Hair certainly had something to do with it, there was also significant infighting between Protestants, Catholics, and Jews. How do you equitably provide prayer that satisfies the major players? What do you do about adherents of other beliefs, or no belief? These were questions many school systems struggled with in larger communities. In smaller communities with large Protestant populations, does the Lord's Prayer mention debts or trespasses? Do we pray to Christ, God, Abba, Abba Father, etc? It became a situation of death by a thousand papercuts.
Does that mean I am against religious expression in schools? Absolutely not. I don't believe a teacher should hang the Christian Flag any more than they should a Pride flag, but having a Bible on their desk or in their bookshelf should in no way be considered Indoctrination. I also support groups such as Prayer around the Flagpole and Fellowship for Christian Athletes, which are student led and voluntary and often do very good work for the school community.
Do you want security at your school? Think it is vital?
Enjoy it while you can.We are in a first world country with a second world education system that is antiquated. Third world countries have public schools btw. Sorry to step on sacred cows.I don't know about you, but I kind of like living in a first world country. If you want to take a step towards second or third world status, please do so elsewhere.
I understand what they did. I understand it wasn't heroic. I understand it got more kids killed. I understand they chose to secure a crime scene rather than saving kids. Thanks but no thanks. If I ever find myself with my kid in that situation. I just won't say anything and will simply sprint into the building. I'd rather be killed going in rather than live being held back. The police are more worried about not letting the shooter get away rather than stopping the carnage.Jesus Christ. No one understand setting up a perimeter to secure the scene? You can’t just let anyone walk in and out if a crime scene especially an active shooter situation
Someone hates states rights..... if a state wants to have public schools and abortion clinics, look who wants big government to come and tell them no......We need to ban public schools. I know that’s a sacrilege to progs whose 2 holy of holies are the public school and the abortion clinic which are not mentioned anywhere in the constitution.
They did both. You are simply misinformedI understand what they did. I understand it wasn't heroic. I understand it got more kids killed. As do the many countries currently ranking above us. The difference? Education policy is shaped by educators rather than politicians. Policies and practices are given time to take hold rather than rotated through at breakneck speed hoping to find a quick fix with a comfy public-facing name. Students have less instruction time, more unstructured time, and teachers are given the space to collaborate with their peers.
You're damn right that America's education system needs an overhaul. It needs to get politicians and profiteers as far away from it as possible.
