19 students, 3 adults dead in Texas elementary shooting.

That issue came up after the Parkland shooting in South Florida a few years back. Whatever criticism there might be of the law enforcement officers and whatever after action review should be done to improve things for the future, that cannot distract away from the fact that the main culprit here is easy access to guns.

Nope, that’s not the main culprit.

Do you honestly believe a 4 week old fetus is the same as an elementary school student?

A life is a life , your decision about that is between you and whoever you chose to look up or down to . The one I chose would gently tell me to let you make that decision and let it be on you . Free will and all .

Sure it is. It's the one thing in common between race based shootings like Buffalo, loner depressed shootings like Texas, anti gay shooting at Pulse Nightclub in Orlando, and drug dealer shootings in Chicago.

It is THE problem. It must be addressed.

This is a disingenuous line of commenting, and you know it.
It is not disingenuous. Teaching is a job like anything else and I know few people that work for free. It is indeed disingenuous to insulate that teachers are on some holy plateau because they teach and to hide behind that as insulation to criticism. If teachers should be paid more, what is the amount. What should the monthly check say. Name your price man.

Access to guns can’t be the main culprit since access to guns was even easier 3 decades ago and these events were almost unheard of. That fact destroys your argument.
Now if we had eased access instead of placed more barriers and mass shootings increased you would have a plausible argument. It’s science.

I gave you the answer twice now .. a life is a life . That’s the way I see it .
So you agree a 10 year olds life is worth the same as a 2 week old fetus? Why can't you just say yes? Have some doubt? Its okay if you do, any logical person would.

I'm out for the night guys this arguing this **** all night is not healthy.

Ooooooooooo.... so close but a swing and a miss

Enjoy it while you can.We are in a first world country with a second world education system that is antiquated. Third world countries have public schools btw. Sorry to step on sacred cows.
Think we’d be in this situation if there weren’t national teachers unions?

If you take a maximalist view of the 2nd Amendment, own what it entails, which is this bloodbath.
I do own it. If you actually feel what you said, I pity you.
Not only do you come off being an awful troll but your point is null. She wasn’t enjoying her
“ freedom loving 2A” in a gun free zone.

Dude what part of a life is a life don’t you understand ? Killing one is the same to me as killing the other . You asked me what I thought and I’ve told you 4 times now .

It's all good.
These horrific events are different than most topics with me, even moreso when children and their teachers have been murdered. I can understand that people have differing views over gun control and how it plays into these tragedies, but using them for "and George Floyd" or "but Obama" strike a nerve.

Why? Why should an 18 year old be able to legally purchase a military grade weapon but cannot buy a beer? You sound absolutely insane.
Because the same 18 year old can join the army and be issued an actual assault rifle. Not only that but bombs and other destructive items. Turn off the ****ing tv already.

I agree that it makes no sense. An 18 year old should be able to buy beer.

But I’m ready to compromise. Set the age to buy a firearm at 21 but along with that the voting age, to join the military and be tried as and be considered an adult goes to 21 also.

I understand what they did. I understand it wasn't heroic. I understand it got more kids killed. I understand they chose to secure a crime scene rather than saving kids. Thanks but no thanks. If I ever find myself with my kid in that situation. I just won't say anything and will simply sprint into the building. I'd rather be killed going in rather than live being held back. The police are more worried about not letting the shooter get away rather than stopping the carnage.
Let’s face it LE is in a no win situation. The locals made an attempt to stop the shooter, failed realizing they were in a bad situation they were not prepared for, when they called in reinforcements they didn’t get instructions except to stand down until the big boys got there and now they will be the ones to take the blame, so that the feds can use this as a case for a federal force - that would be prepared

No.

What’s alarming is that a mother heard about the shooting….drove 40 minutes to the school…jumped a fence and breached the school to save her two kids…before police confronted the shooter.

I had a thought this morning:
How hard would it be to install automatic locks on classroom doors that could be activated with a panic button (akin to silent alarms at banks)?
This is so ludicrous. Armed teachers in classrooms; armed guards in the halls; single entrance/exit presumably with guards; might as well have recess behind a concrete wall. Masks are psychologically destructive for children, but we're sitting here talking about sending them to prisons every day to protect them from being massacred.
