'19 VA QB Brendon Clark

This.

There was an analysis done some years back using Rivals. They looked at all the classes back to 2001 and assigned a probability for “success” (can’t remember all the qualifiers for success, but some were- became a starter, got drafted, etc.)

The breakdown:

5 Star - 50%
4 Star - 38%
3 Star - 11%
2 Star - 3%

Stars are not a Guarantee of success, they are a Predictor of success.

That does not hold true for 5* QBs though

Sounds like he is concerned that these teams are making conditional offers and he is afraid of losing a solid place with WF by taking visits...if he is that good he doesn't belong at WF anyway, and he has nothing to worry about by taking visits to higher profile blue bloods.

He may have a connection. Odd place to commit early too

But all of this discussion about stars is moot until the final rankings. This guy may end up 4*.

Stats don't lie. I would like to see a breakdown by position though, because some like QB do seem to buck the odds a bit more. And I'm sure there are some positions like maybe LB or DB where stars are greater that %50 indicator.

“(helton) said he really liked me on film, and that coach niedermeyer really liked me, and they think i’d be a good fit,” clark said. “coach niedermeyer said i look like a tim tebow that can throw, and i like that. That was probably the first time i've heard that. I think it fits, for sure. I think there’s a lot of other people that are kind of like tim tebow that can throw. But i think it’s a compliment, because it involves more of tim tebow’s personality.” clark said he’s familiar with the vols, and he’s interested in perhaps making the trip to tennessee sometime in june, although he hasn’t “talked to my parents about it.”

“i definitely know about peyton manning,” clark said, referring to the legendary former tennessee quarterback. “i know that their offensive coordinator coached sam darnold the past two years, and coach (jeremy) pruitt came from alabama. All i've heard has been good things so far. “they said they’d for sure like me to come up there, just to check it out. … if i went on a visit, it’d probably be, like, sometime in june just to look around, see the campus. I’m more worried about the campus part than the actual football facilities.”
