2007 Chicago Cubs Thread

Well the cubs handled the diamondbacks today and are easily the hottest team in baseball. 3 game winning streak without derek lee and a not so great lineup today and get to and beat the reginin cy young winner. Don't get much better then that. They are playing some really solid baseball right now. Brewers aren't going to be able to hold off the cubs, and even if they do the wildcard is only an arm length away

Yep, and they busted up a very good pitcher in Webb.

Comeon on Cubs keep going and shut Hat up.
Actually, Charles, I hope the Flubs do make the postseason. That way, when they kick it away again, I can laugh as hard as I did in '03 when they threw up all over themselves and lost to the Marlins. Or like in '84 when the ball went through Leon Durham's legs. Or in '89 when Will Clark used Greg Maddux as his own personal pinata.

Serious question though, hat. If for some stroke of astronomical luck, the Cubs finally win it in the next 4-5 years, would it be good or bad for baseball? Or would it even matter?

Probably good. It can only bring more viewers to the game.

Not that I track viewership ratings, but MLB could use more viewers...

I think it would be very good for baseball. The Cubs in the World Series would get even the most casual fan's interest.

i'm not getting my hopes up just yet.

i've been happy with the season so far, but i will remain skeptical for a few more months.

1.5 games back in the Central and 2 back in the WC

Trade deadline is approaching quickly and, while rumors are swirling, nothing concrete seems to be in the making. A few names that have been mentioned as possibilities are Dunn, Dye, Griffey, Payton, Nady, Mahay, Marte, Otsuka, Gagne, Byrnes, and Laird. Obviously, if we get help, it will be another OF to platoon with Floyd or some relief help. I don't see either happening, but Hendry has surprised me before.

If the Cards can hold on to pull off another solid comeback against the Brew Crew, the Cubs will be only a half a game back in the Central.

Looks like it may be a long game. Lilly isn't hitting his spots and has already given up some big hits, including a 3R HR. Hammels is absolutely on right now.

Lou definitely seems to know what he is doing. We keep clawing but Milwaukee is holding tight to that lead. Maybe it changes tonight?
