2008 Titans

Lets be honest. The Titans were lucky to be in the position they were in at the end of the season. While they roundly beat most of their opponents in the first half of the season, they were also lucky their division was as weak as it has been in several years. The win at Baltimore was as lucky as Baltimore's win here in Nashville. Think they are going to beat Pittsburgh most of the time? Or Indianapolils for that matter?
WOW! I take it you're not a Titans fan.

His back-up played a phenomenal game. I never said they were lucky to beat Pittsburgh. I asked if you thought they would beat Pittsburgh most of the time. The answer is no unless your too biased to be objective. Pittsburgh is generally better than the Titans.

I will refer you to this.

If you've got a front 4 like the Titans had this year, you'd be crazy not to rely on it. The Titans could get pressure with that front 4 on a regular basis. When that happens, there's no reason to be blitzing.

Yeah, but Haynesworth is leaving after this season and without Haynesworth how has Schwartz's defenses fared?

No, it wasn't. Baltimore did not dominate the first game like the Titans did the second.

He has interviewed for head coaching positions in years past.

A lot of coaches have interviewed for HC positions (tons of crappy ones too - Wade Phillips and Norv Turner are head coaches so that speaks volumes) in the past - and they have never gotten them.

hentrich supposedly contemplating retirement...only guy who's really been on the team the entire 10 years in nashville

First, how do you know Haynesworth is leaving? Can you predict the future?

Secondly, they didn't have him when they played the Steelers and they fared pretty well that game.

Because this is the Titans organization we're talking about. They hardly even retain big names like Haynesworth when they prove they're worth the big money... they choose to let 'em go and get younger guys in.

Do more with less, the bud adams moto. I agree we've been cheap at times. We had a lot of cap room last year, could have upgraded the receiver position definitely. I've never seen a organization put less value on the receiver position than the titans do.

hopefully that will change. at least i hope it does. lack of talent at the wr position really hurt this season with teams locking down on chris johnson and forcing the passing game to step up. the offseason should be interesting.

Best of luck to him.

While I think he's good at what he did, I'll be more worried/upset about the defense if Haynesworth leaves.

Good for him... lol - but why? Nothing good is going to come from this... should have waited it out for some place he actually stood a shot at winning. Dumb move.

exactly. detroit is death to a head coach. that is a place better suited for a chizik type of coach who no one has ever heard of and the city of detroit can chew up and spit out without the sports world ever noticing. it is going to be just like the raiders are now, but hopefully they stick with a coach long enough to turn things around. good luck schwartz.

Dumb move by Schwartz but, HC opportunities aren't gonna come every day. Good luck to him.

If Haynesworth stays, the D will be fine no matter who the coordinator is.

Titans are 30 million under the salary cap, so i like the chances of resigning haynesworth, although we have been quite tight with money the last few years...

Brett Favre and Philip Rivers out, Kerry Collins in for AFC team in Pro Bowl - ESPN

There was movement on the AFC Pro Bowl quarterback roster on Tuesday.
Both the Jets' Brett Favre and the Chargers' Philip Rivers are not going to play in the game because of injuries. Tennessee's Kerry Collins has been named to the roster. Favre was one of three AFC quarterbacks to be named to the Pro Bowl last month. Rivers was the No. 1 alternate. Collins was the No. 2 alternate.
Collins going to the Pro Bowl...oh well, some consolation prize

thats cool. collins held this year's team together and i am happy for him even though the pro bowl means nothing.
