word around here is that the panthers, especially now that peppers wants out, will possibly make a real effort to get Haynesworth....don't know if there's anythign to it, but the local media around here has been mentioning for about a week.
According to a Nashville City Paper report, Haynesworth is not happy with the pace of contract talks with the Titans.
Haynesworth can become a free agent on Feb. 27.
If the two sides cant work out an extension, Haynesworth, a former Tennessee Volunteer, has said he would like stay close to his Knoxville home.
That makes Atlanta and Carolina possibilities.
YouTube - Jerry Maguire (Tom Cruise) - Show me the Money (clean edit)This is all speculation at this point really. Simple truth at this point is either the titans make a deal with him before free agency or another team will sign him as soon as the period's open. The rumors are just guesses based off how we already know he's gone if the titans dont re-sign him.
I dont think he's "holding out" to play in carolina or anything at this point either. The other NFL teams can't talk to him or his agent at this point. All they're concerned right now with is his money and contract.
So, it looks like the NFL announced on Sunday that the titans would be in the NFL's summer hall of fame game against the bills:
Titans to play in Hall of Fame Game - AFC South - ESPN
...you know what that means....throwback jerseys!
Too bad we don't have any. Unless they surprise me, and we bring out the Oilers old school jerseys
Two years ago, when Bruce Matthews was inducted into the Pro Football Hall of Fame, many of us thought the Titans would have been an obvious choice for the game connected to the induction weekend that kicks off the preseason.
Instead we got the New Orleans Saints against the PittsburghSteelers.
The Titans get a turn this year, as it was announced Saturday. The Hall of Fame game will be Tennessee against Buffalo in the kickoff of a season of celebration of the 50th season for the league's AFL teams.
The Bills and Titans will wear their original uniforms. The Titans will wear their Oilers uniforms of the early 1960s that were distinguished by the white oil derrick logo on light blue helmets. Buffalo will wear its throwback uniforms that feature a simple red buffalo on a white helmet.
That will be cool for fans of the Houston Oilers, but probably weird for those who only adopted the team after a move to Tennessee even if they can appreciate the history of it.
The game is on Aug. 9 and will be nationally televised by NBC. It's the first time since 1970 that it won't pit an NFC team against an AFC one.
It will mark the first five-game preseason for the Titans franchise since 1994, when as the Houston Oilers it played Dallas in Mexico City as an extra preseason
So if the Titans don't spend the money on Haynesworth, what you guys think about pursuing Anquain Boldin. He said his chances of returning to the Cardinals are "slim". WR is obviously a position the Titans need to upgrade. Seems like a very logical fit.
Would you guys be in favor of the Titans drafting Percy Harvin in the first round? After watching Santonio Holmes in the Super Bowl, I feel Fisher really needs a dynamic player at receiver.
When guys demand big pay days from the titans, they're shown the door. They'll regret not locking up albert. Dominate DT's are in short supply in the nfl.
I hear what you're saying. The thing that worry's me is new DC, no haynesworth, likely means a dropoff on the defensive side of the ball. We all know fisher's offensive philosophy is conservative in nature. That means we won't be able to rely on the defense as much next year. I see us returning to mediocrity next year and that sucks. With the kind of money he will be demanding I honestly don't think this is a bad move. He may have three more years of playing at this level and tying this kind of money up will only mean we won't have it to spend in other areas. With the young guys we have on the D-line there will be a drop off but the young guys have shown they are serviceable.
There are other reasons for not wanting to tie up this kind of money with Haynesworth. We are all familiar with his on the field incident but there are other off the field incidents that have started to come to light recently.
There are pros and cons to signing him with the kind of money he wants, the Titans seem to have decided that there were more cons than pros.

Good move? Are you kidding? They could of saved that money and went after a receiver. Sometimes I just don't understand what the Titans are thinking. :realmad:
