I saw a Farragut/Bearden replay, and I thought he was a very tough back, had speed (vs the white boys), and definitely was the best athlete on the field, but again, he's tiny (probably closer to 5'6"). He could grow some and be a DI guy, overwise I think he's more like a Chris Shiverdecker from Alcoa, who's now at Carson-Newman. As for the hype, I think a lot of that is in that he plays for Bearden. The sophmore twins from A-E are better. And I've heard Alcoa has a couple super sophmores.
1st lets talk about your post
Farragut is the #1 team in the state in 5A. Farragut did not kick the ball to him at all and he had 120 rushing on them
As for the hype, well he's earned it. He is the only frosh in Bearden history to qualify for the state track meet. He runs the 100M, 200M with his best times being 10.7 100 and 22.47 200...he has legit 4.4-4.5 speed
The twins you speak of from AE arent sophs..they are SR's chase and chance jones. Alcoa has Taharin Tyson and Darryl Warren, they both can play
Devrin is already getting D-1 interest from UT, Mizzou, Ill, Colorado, Vandy, Oregon(he loves them) among several others so he will definitely play D-1 ball. He just turned 15 in Feb/March so he is very young and very good. Possibly the best player in the knoxville area as a soph. Teams have started keying on him now and BHS has used their other weapons in 8 games Young has
1400 all purpose yards 11 tds (all kinds of ways receiving, punt returns, kickoff, 871 yards 8 on the ground) he is averaging like 50 yards per kickoff return and 16 yards or so per punt return when they kick to him...
20tackles 3 FF 2 fumble recoveries 3 INT's
He will be KIL soph of year. The thing that makes him great is his vision and speed, many of his long runs have been plays were he cuts back across the grain. He is suprisingly storng for a player his size as often one person cannot tackle him. He is great in space.
He projects to be 5'9 180 LBS or so by his SR year as he is still growing.......he is the most electrifying player in E. TN regardless of class....very explosive...
Coaches and former UT players have told me..he is more explosive than any player UT has right now....he is the real deal.....and you will see him playing on Saturdays
he also was named MVP of the Schumann Underclassmen camp in ATL in spring..and recently named one of the top 50 soph in the south...
here is the link to Schuman's camp
