That said, Nadal is probably the best ever on this surface.

Borg might have something to say about that. And he had tougher competition in his day too. I would also like to see assdigger try to play five sets with a heavier, smaller head racket

I'm pretty sure Borg would agree that Rafa is the better player. I'm not so sure you're correct about the competition, either.
Different times. Conditioning now is off charts. Rafa is the best ever with clay under his feet, but god was Bjorn's game a thing of beauty..

Being the gentelman that he is, it wouldn't surprise me, but at this point I would still take Borg over Nadal every single day and twice on Sunday. Borg won six consecutive(that he entered) French Opens and five consecutive Wimbledons. Made the quarters at Wimbledon in his first ever start there at 17.

And yes, the competition was better. There were more great players during Borg's era than there are now

Competition? Seriously?

Borg was incredible, but equal equipment would give Nadal the advantage. Nadal has strokes that a comparable, but unbelievable wheels.

Agreed, and who is to say that Borg, with the competition, equipment and training of today wouldn't be the best? Or Rocket Rod for that matter. Rod says that all you can really do is judge who is the best of their generation. That said, there is no way Borg with his prime skill set and even the best equipment would hang w/ Nadal now.

Put a wooden racquet in their hands and I'll take Borg right now.

If we can get it done and you'll take it, I'll wager everything I have. All of it.

Borg's Donnay was actually a laminate if remember right...

Yes, he went to the composite Donnay after playing with a wooden Bancroft for a few years.

Are either of those companies still in business. I know the Bancroft was hot racket for several years and then Donnay got hot as a result of Borg playing that brand.

Nadal wouldn't know what to do with a wooden racquet with gut string. Nadal plays one of the lightest racquets on tour with string that produces massive spin for him. He uses grip size 2, which most 10 year old girls use.

Obviously Borg is now like 80 years old, but watching Nadal hit with a wooden racquet would be funny. It would be a complete shankfest.

He would do better with a frying pan.

I know at least as much as you, smartass. You asked who his competition was. I answered. Specifically at the French Open and without looking it up, there were probably some other clay specialists I have forgotten about. I will still take the competition during his day against the players now. There may be more quality players now, but there were more top tier players then.
