I was getting a bit tired of the same ol' teams that couldn't shoot and had no clue how to run effective offensive sets. The days of wild full court mayhem were long gone...and good riddance. Problem was that style wasn't replaced by much good either. Pearl was about past his 'best used by date', too bad he had to implode and drag the school through hell on the way out.

Martin can't subsist off this kind of talent in the SEC, plus the 2012 class is loaded, what is he doing handing a scholarship to a player like this so early?

I know Coach Martin was put in a tough situation, and he needs some time, but at this rate we're going to be at a Wade Houston level of suck in a couple years.

Last year if Pearl signed a 6'8 swing man shooting 41% from three and 85% from the line people on here would have creamed themselves and ganged up anyone who pointed out the offer list or stars.

I don't follow recruiting because most of the time it can be a crap shoot, but I do look at who offered the kid over how many stars they had by their name. I'm going to give Martin a few years because he has been put in a bad spot. It's going to take some time to get away from the negativity that has hovered over this program for the last year. He's only been on the job for a few months and we haven't seen one game so there is nothing to base a factual opinion on yet. We'll have a pretty good gauge of what kind of coach he is by the end of next season. He deserves that at least and everyone will know by year three what lies ahead for this program.

Wait. I forgot. Not only are you on a recruiting site, you are inside a thread involving.....RECRUITING! You are in this as much as the rest of us.

I would agree about the 1 and done sentiments. That's a pretty sucky thing to deal with when you get a 5* recruit, if he's a bust, he stays and if he is good he's gone. But, these recruiting sites are nothing more than fun. I don't take this stuff too seriously until somebody commits and the rest is just fun watching whose leaning where and what they said about the coach and so on.

For the record, i have not posted anything negative about CCM or Derek Reese. I only stated that most people on this site are stargazers and if they say they are not then they are lying.

I mean, straight up, if i had a moticon to show my feeling, it would be laughing, because even getting into dialogues with individuals is quite fun as long as namecalling doesn't happen.

And by the way, i must be in the 10%. I didn't play football past middle school (not including intramurals, of course), but I am very knowlegable about the game from this site, watching ESPN and talking it over with my drinking buddies. Just ask my 6-year-old daughter. She'll tell you how smart I am!

With the current administration, and with more football fans following the teams most recent success, it may be unfair, but more than likely true.

I believe there is a new standard at UT in all sports. Be consistently successful or be gone.

I would imagine we would need to upgrade for that level of suckness. I've tried being fair to Martin because he hasn't coached a game yet but wow.

If he can recruit as well as Houston, we'll be fine. Houston could recruit, he just couldn't coach.
