2013 F Austin Nichols (Memphis Briarcrest)

Seems Cal was either just taking Stokes' temperature or got wind of the TSSAA DQ and saw the writing on the wall.

I didn't follow all of Cal's recruitment of Stokes but this last part seems the most reasonable thing to me. Once Stokes made it clear he wanted to play now, seems Cal realized he couldn't accommodate him so it was more like a "son, we would love to have you but we can't really do anything for you till next year. Good luck wherever you go." <---( imagined conversation in my head just for effect)

Lulz, that's why I love you guys. Tenacity.

It's not BS simply because you don't want to believe it, sir.

Now, as another kind poster stated, back to Austin Nichols.

And it's not indisputable fact because you do believe it; and based solely on some "source" that dropped an earful of knowledge on you. Case in point, Chievous' broken jaw.

Was in beast mode tonight dropping 30 in state playoff game...here's some tweets from audience...

“@nono1311: @a_nichols33 has dunked so much tonight the net is broken”

“@sponsnick: On @a_nichols33 last dunk messed up net...another game delay. #SAINTS up 27-13.”

“@ColeHarrison: @a_nichols33 with 17 at half+like 5011 dunks #swaggerific”

“@nono1311: @memphissports The Saints end the half on a 35-6 run to go up 44-15. Not too shabby. @a_nichols33 is beating Baylor w/ 17 points of his own”

“@My_401Kay: Briarcrest is killing! @a_nichols33 pretty much just broke the goal too..”

His playoff game will be on tv at 5 cst. Nashville comcast channel 1006.

And Corn Elder, football recruit, is on Ensworths team.

Kid looks a little stiff but is making plays and has good hands. More athletic than he looks. He's just so skinny.
Keeps the ball high on putbacks and just threw a 50 foot outlet overhead pass.

Can't believe no shot clock in hs. Ensworth went to 4 corners in 3rd quarter and the last 4 minutes of the game. Bs way to play ball.

Hard to deny that Nichols is getting A LOT of heat from UNC and Leslie McDonald right now as well. Those four teams all still in play for Austin.

Why are people so infatuated with Nichols?

The guys is a 6-7/8 center. He's not going to play center in college, and he doesn't have the build to play for PF. His ideal college position would be SF but he lacks the inside/outside game to play the position.

He's a PF who needs some time to fill in. His skill are undeniable.

He's a junior...

1. He can grow
2. He can improve
3. He's already dominating at every level

He'll play the PF position in college and do it well. He's a top 3 player in the state and undenaibly top 50 in the nation.

The list of teams that are after him (UT, Florida, Memphis, Louisville, UNC, Duke) should tell you that the kid is a big deal.

because his frame will allow weight to be added and his hands/fundamentals are ridiculous. He was snagging passes left handed and right handed in the championship game, on a full sprint on fast break or posting up, as smooth as I have seen any recruit lately.

Yeah, he's not very good.

Why else would UT, Duke, UNC, etc... offer him a scholly.

Competition as stated before..........

Dominating? His high school competition is terrible, just private schools and prep schools around West TN. Dominating AAU, seriously?

He was mvp of a tourney in Atlanta involving various schools and Briarcrest plays the likes of Treadwell, etc, during the season, not just private schools.

He doesn't play the toughest competition every game out, but has played plenty. Many times, it's easier for him to play better teams because they will man him up, rather than have everyone sag down on him as smaller schools do.
