Recruiting isn't the question...
Personally, I think he falls on his face in the BE, and next year will be a rude awakening, even with all the talent he will have.
I agree 100% playing in the big east is by far going to be tougher than the last dozen years or so.They wont be cosecutive 30 win seasons and undefeated conference records for the tigers under pastner. He has had the talent to go deep in ncaa tourny but has bowed out early.
Hasn't beaten one top 25 team in 3 years...doesn't sound promising for a conference that is loaded with top 25 teams.
Syracuse, Pitt, WVU, and Notre Dame are all gone.
Louisville and UConn will likely depart sooner than later.
The big east has been overrated in basketball for several years - I believe they won't be regarded as a power conference in either of the major sports within a few years.
Even with Cuse, WVU, Pitt (lol) and Notre Dame (LOL) gone, the Big East is still arguable the second toughest basketball conference at the top, behind the ACC.
We'll still be playing U of L, UConn, Marquette, GTown, SDSU (quasi-conference mates), Temple. The only other conference that can match the teams at the top of the BE is the ACC.
Ohio State, Michigan State, Indiana, Michigan, Wisconsin... The Big 10 is way more difficult than the new Big East, without question. It's tougher at the top, and it doesn't have the massive amount of suck that the Big East has at the bottom.Even with Cuse, WVU, Pitt (lol) and Notre Dame (LOL) gone, the Big East is still arguable the second toughest basketball conference at the top, behind the ACC.

The new Big East is probably about on par with the new SEC and Big XII. Louisville will eventually leave for some other conference, and UConn may never again be the program they were under Calhoun. I don't think the Big East will survive as a big-time conference, even in basketball.
Er... Alright. I hate the Big 10 and it's awful brand of basketball, but I'd love to hear how the group of teams you listed is better than the group of teams I listed. Not even close. I don't mean to be glib, but the new Big East, even after the defections, has it all over the Big 10. The Big 10 wouldn't even be third, probably fourth behind the Big 12 and SEC.

Has Nichols taken an OV to Memphis? Or is a one-night visit, just to see Madness, the entire OV?
I'm going to be at least a little worried until it's over, but I would be more concerned if he cancelled Auburn altogether and spent the weekend at UM. That said, UM football probably does very little to sell the atmosphere; although, UM is actually on the road this week. Too bad UM couldn't get Nichols in for the big 14-10 win over Rice last Saturday.
Not to be a negavol, but I've been uneasy about this whole thing. You don't keep leading others along to just enjoy the process if you know your heart is somewhere else.
How is he gonna say "i wish some people would stop worrying about just sports and look past that" when he's been conducting himself the way he has this whole time? Dude is aware that he's a media and attention cesspool, and now he says that? Pssshh.
