2013 F Austin Nichols (Memphis Briarcrest)

Not saying his heart is somewhere else....however; if you're Austin and you're pretty sure you're heading to UT, why not finish the process. He likely told his AAU coach he'd visit auburn before deciding, he's going to uphold that promise. He enjoys basketball and is a fan of the game, so why shouldn't he attend Memphis madness? Are you saying he should committ to UT AND THEN attend memphis madness...what kind of stir would that cause???? If I'm a kid I'm enjoying the process...I'd probably go visit a school like Hawaii among others, but if the schools gonna pay for everything, why not take a couple free vacations???
Maybe it's just a difference in personalities. I can't really relate to his exact situation. I don't fault him for any of it one bit. I'm just saying maybe he's not 100% fully committed to UT yet.

Must be different personalities.

Like I said, even if I know where I'm headed...id enjoy the process.

If you had to pick a free car and you knew you were gonna pick a Ferrari, would you not also want to test drive a Lamborghini, Bugatti, Aston Martin etc etc if they'd let you???

I sure as hell would.

"This past weekend was yet another important one in regards to Duke Basketball recruiting. The Blue Devils hosted arguably the most important recruit in the class of 2013, power forward Austin Nichols. Hoping to impress this top-15 recruit out of Eads, Tennessee, Coach K and staff showed him what Duke was all about, including an impressive win by the Blue Devils’ football team.*

On Monday, news started to leak that Nichols had a very good visit and was overall fairly impressed. With that being said, this type of reaction is a commonplace among recruits not wanting to give the media any hints about the direction of their recruitment. However, Duke’s staff feels fairly confident about Nichols. Supposedly, this speculation will end sometime after Nichols’ last official visit to Tennessee on October 20th. I have heard that he plans to announce his decision on ESPNU and will ultimately decide between Duke and Tennessee. Getting the last official visit is huge for the Volunteers and, at this point, I am inclined to say Tennessee has the slight edge.

The Volunteers and Coach Martin have a lot going for them and will be hard for Duke to beat. For one, they are much close to home, which apparently is an important factor for Nichols, and on top of this, one of his AAU teammates, Rodney Hubbs has already committed to them. The majority of my sources close to the situation say he will commit to Tennessee but, I wouldn’t rule out Duke quite yet. In an interview from about a year ago, Nichols stated that, “I’ve always wanted to go to Duke ever since I was a kid. It would, literally, be a dream come true”. As the old cliche goes, follow your dreams Austin."

adding fuel to fire but I just heard on a memphis radio station 730 amby somebody named Leroy... that Austin Nichols has cancelled his OV to Auburn and that his top3 are (in order) Vandy, Memphis, Duke) and Tennessee was competely out... Anybody know of this Leroy and does he know what he is talking about? Also said there was a big surprise for Austin tomorrow similar to when Penny Hardaway ws on big screen talking to Odanis Thomas personally

1. Leroy has surpassed Easterwood as biggest idiot that has a job in media with basketball recruiting.

2. Pretty sure that'd be a violation if there was a video presentation created to a specific recruit.

3. Can't wait for Leroy's reaction when AN committs to TN.

Or he knows who you are and this is the most Inception-esque troll job imaginable. I'm starting to think he just like seeing you wig out.

That'd be pretty pathetic for a dude who's job rides on these publications and predictions. I guess some of those Memphis guys are just that desperate for attention though.

so does this mean he isn't visiting Tennessee either, that's what I'd like Leroy to answer.
