2013 F Austin Nichols (Memphis Briarcrest)

Tennessee isnt a rival to Memphis any anything. Leads in mens basketball 14-9,in football memphis has won 1 game all time, women's basketball never won. More like on big brother's site

Not that I have a dog in the fight, and against my better judgement, I'll ask a question. If you don't consider Tennessee a rival of Memphis, doesn't that make your presence here slightly more (fill in the blank)?

I come here because I live in Kville, follow UT basketball and was invited here by a friend. The fact that I'm a Memphis fan makes some of the posters here angry, but it has nothing to do with why I come to this board.

I live in Kentucky. I follow UK basketball. I've never visited, let alone posted on CatPause. To each their own I guess. Carry on.

To put Leroy to rest...Nichols has not cancelled his auburn or Tennessee visit.

And for those that may think I BS, or as MC liked to say on another board don't know what I'm talking about and am a wanna be insider...

Nichols has moved his visit to auburn to the 27th...NOBODY knows this yet, straight out of his mouth to my ear 2 minutes ago.

First, it wasn't me who said you weren't an insider, that was someone else.

Second, he's moving his visit to a week after he announces? Seems odd.

Third, are you calling these kids now? "Why don't you sit down over here?"- Chris Hansen.

Obviosuly his announcement date has changed. And actually he never had a date set, that was speciation from everyone, as he said. "everyone" said they expect an announcement shortly after UT visit....

Now the auburn visit is his last visit and announcement will be sometime after it obviously...unless he decides not to take that visit.

Not good news for the Vols. I liked them having the last visit for him.

Yea me too.

The positive that can be taken is that instead of only being about 10 days between Memphis madness and a decision, now there's about 20 days.

Going on 2 visits, and roughly 3 weeks passing...it'll help any emotion from the MM fade away.

I'm getting tired of this fiasco. We will still be Tennessee with or without this drama queen. I appeciate the way that Hubbs and Stokes handled things. This guy, not so much.

What? Of the top 20 recruits on rivals, 9 are still uncommitted.

Funny that you're sick of recruiting a kid when half of the top 150 is still uncommitted.

I see our other conversation was deleted. I'm a journalism student at Ut. Nickcarner@yahoo.com email me.

"Nichols bumped a proposed visit to Auburn back to November in the process, but the big question is what impact does this have on Tennessee's chances? Are the hometown Tigers, long thought to be receiving mostly courtesy interest from the five-star forward, now a serious player late in the game?

We'll admit, this one is a curve ball, but as we've been saying for a couple of weeks now, we still like Tennessee's position here. We'll add however, that we've learned to never dismiss Memphis' chances when the target is a hometown target.

We wouldn't presume to call Nichols' visit this weekend something to dismiss out of hand as unimportant, but we continue to feel like Tennessee has the momentum here. That feeling on our part didn't change coming out his visit to Duke last weekend, and while Memphis presents a different kind of pressure, we like Tennessee's chances to hold their spot and close strong with their own official visit next weekend."

Are you saying he shouldn't get recruiting info from....the recruits?

I'm saying... that the introduction to that conversation is probably the funniest thing ever:

BTO: Hi, uh, Austin... Mr. Nichols. My name is [BTO].
Nichols: Yeah, what can I do for you?
BTO: Can I get a statment on your recent trip to Memphis Madness?
Nichols: Uh, sure, which recruiting service are you with, again?
BTO:..... none, really. I"m just a random poster on this Tennessee message board and these Memphis fans have really gotten out of hand lately. I just need something to shut them up.
Nichols: Uh, ok. ::puts hand over the phone to explain this conversation to his friend sitting next to him, stiffled giggles::
