I'm going to leave with this. Nobody here (yes, I'm talking to you BTO) knows Austin or what his decision will be. But from all indications and from what is being said around Memphis, he was a strong UT lean as of Monday. But then someone ticked him off when they broke that he had given a silent to UT's staff. He publicly corrected this on twitter and made it clear that he had not. Then, just a few hours later, told the UM staff that he was postponing his Auburn visit to attend Memphis Madness. Then called Auburn to inform them of his delay plans. Austin is VERY good friends with Memphis alum and beat writer for the Memphis Commercial Appeal who has been quietly in Austin's ear about staying home. Also, there have been others around town in strong high places doing the same. All of this is apparently having an impact with his final decision.
Tonight was UM's night and last time to win him over. They rolled out the blue carpet so to speak for him and it's up to him now.
UT can waive football's history and women's basketball in his face but that's about it. The men have nothing to gloat about. Memphis on the other hand has an extremely prideful history of legends and NBA stars. Penny Hardaway to Derrick Rose. And tonight the UM revealed all of it's legends on one stage. And unless you saw it you have no clue that the plan was to show Austin firsthand at what it means to come back to your alma mater in your home town years later and be idolized as they all were. Once they leave town they are forgotten. Ask Tony Harris how that feels. Lmao
Bottom line, Austin may chose UT in the end. But it's not because he already has because he hasn't or his mom wouldn't be pulling on him to stay home. And if mom gets what she wants then he will be a Tiger. But if he does chose UT over Duke then he's not that smart of a kid after all and would be better fit for your type of program.
