The 1st post is as up-to-date as I can get it to this point. Some of the last guys left may take some more time before signing. I know the Anderson kid hasn't graduated HS yet.
The Twins have agreed to sign supplemental second-rounder Jose Miranda and 11th-round choice Tyler Benninghoff, writes Rhett Bollinger of MLB.com. Miranda, a Puerto Rican shortstop, will land $775K. Thats a good deal less than the value of the 73rd pick ($878,500).
BA had Miranda as the 113th-ranked player in the draft and praised his offensive abilities, though the outlet expects him to move to second or third base. Benninghoff, BAs 201st-rated prospect, will collect the highest bonus ($600K) thus far of anyone outside of this years first 10 rounds.
$600K? For an outside the top 10 round pick? How in the world did this happen?
If someone drafted was a senior, I bolded them to show they would not be returning to school. In a twist, would-be-senior pitcher at Ole Miss, Brady Bramlett has decided to not sign, but instead focus only on academics his senior year. No baseball.
Tony,
Going to try to make this make sense with hypothetical numbers.
Team has 10mil in pool $. They use 9mil to sign top 10 round picks.
They saved 1mil.
Anything over 100k after round 10 counts against that pool $. So they can go sign 2 other picks for 600k outside of the top 10 rounds.
This is the reason we are still worried about liggenfelter because so far the Yankees have saved about 1mil in the signings. Good news is they still have their 3 top guys left to sign
