2017 Around the SEC Thread

Crazy weekend as Alabama won the series at auburn and it looks like Georgia is going to win the series at Kentucky.

Georgia and Bama come off the mat this weekend

UGA takes 2
Bama going for sweep at Auburn
Mizzou did ok winning 1 at Vandy
Vols split with Arkansas and may keep Hogs from winning the West and SEC overall

The bottom of conference looked better this weekend

Further, I thought UK and Auburn were overrated and was about to give them some credit for proving me wrong. Maybe I may be finally be proven right in the very long run.

No excuse for either team to lose either series at home this late in season. Especially Auburn to the worst SEC team in years.

After looking at those numbers all I can say is thank goodness Jordan Rodgers is an elite hitter. If it were not for his game tying double at A&M or his go ahead grand slam at Vandy, there would be virtually no hope at all for postseason play.

Those SEC stats bear out exactly what I thought. People keep preaching progress when there isn't proof of any. Imagine those stats next year without Rodgers and Moberg.

there was a time when Rodgers and Moberg didn't play, at all! Just over the last two years did they receive playing time of any consequence, Rodgers was a junior and Moberg a senior before blowing out his knee last year against UNC Asheville.

We will have guys step into their spots, Lipcius twins, Ammons, Derkay are already off to a pretty good start as true freshman.

Here is my $.02 and take it for what its worth, support the team, let the AD do his job and we go from there. Constructive criticism is fine and well received. As I tell my kids, if you're going to ***** about something you better have an answer or solution to make it better......

What is the current record?

You've been preaching that we shouldn't use records alone to judge Serrano but here they are if you want to see:

8-22
8-20
12-18
11-18
9-21
7-15

You don't want us to use records (except right now which is weird because it proves my point), you don't want us to use stats, so what should we use?

If for some reason we happen to go 4-2 in the next 6, you could then argue improvement from last season. Although, it's not enough to make me happy maybe it will be enough to make Currie keep him around.

Overall record means nothing to you?

What about RPI?

Ultimately, the SEC record is what counts. It rarely happens that a team makes the NCAAT with a below .500 SEC record. We haven't come close to sniffing that in the Serrano era.

Did you expect a team full of freshmen playing a lot to win in the SEC?
