2020 Presidential Race

Pence doesn't want to be in the middle of a crisis. He's basically a coward like the rest of DC - people who are where they are and have no intention of doing anything to rock the boat.
What do you think Mike Pence should do? Do you think he should extend his power, and count votes from a different set of electors than those who were chosen by way of a popular vote through a democratic process? Do you think he should use his power to unilaterally overturn the result of an election in his own personal favor? Do you understand the consequences that would have on our government, if it was possible for such an act to succeed? It would stand as a precedent for all future presidential elections going forward, and effectively end democracy as we know it in this country.

Mike Pence is doing what he has to do, in order to abide by the United States Constitution. If anything, Pence is showing strength by standing up to Trump... who is behaving like a spoiled bully, as he often does.

The only cowards are those suggesting Pence should back Trump's attempt to overturn the election. Trump is a coward and so are his proud supporters

Mysterious.

Those Republicans know this is ridiculous. They are just afraid of opposing what Trump wants done, and then getting insulted by him on Twitter, assailed by their constituents back home, and then challenged in a primary in 2022. This has nothing to due with proven examples of voter fraud. It's about political survival for Republicans... and them not having a backbone anymore.

Some claiming it is seditious and others a "lack of backbone" or "cowardice" does not add up.

Sure, it does. There is nothing about sedition which requires courage. In this case, Republicans are just blindly following whatever Trump is advocating. Their lack of courage stems from their unconditional support for the leader of their party (to cover themselves politically), rather than doing what is best for their country.

Doing what is best for the nation. That is a good one.

Is a crazy stunt like suing Mike Pence in order to force him to unilaterally overturn an election to his own favor, good for the nation? I think not. This has reached an unprecedented level of absurdity... even by the standards of idiots like Louis Gomer (the misspelling is intentional).

We could impeach a Presidsent based on a pee pee tape lie, pack the courts, eliminate the EC, bring DC and PR into statehood. Stuff like that?

Historical revisionism at it's best.

(1) Trump was impeached for abusing the power of his office. He withheld aid to an ally in order to facilitate an investigation into his general election opponent.

(2) The courts haven't been packed, and they won't be... as long as the Republicans control the Senate.

(3) Eliminate the Electoral College? Why would Democrats want to do that? The current scoreboard says Biden 306 Trump 232. Arizona trending blue, is a big problem for Republican candidates for President in the near future.

(4) I haven't seen many calls for DC and Puerto Rico to become states... at the very least, you are making too much of some very quiet chatter. It's not going to happen.

Now, quit trying to change the subject... this law suit against Pence is a crazy, stupid political stunt. House Republicans have cast an unconditional level of support for Trump. They are placing the egotistical needs of a narcissist above following the United States Constitution - and common freaking sense.

I stand corrected on bullet 1. Pee pee tape just facilitated a previous administration spy scheme to appoint a Special Council, with goal of impeachment.

I can't decide if Camp Trump is a cult or an organized crime syndicate. Either way it's no good.

At least the DNC is easy to identify as the Big Tent Circus.

January 1, 2021 and people are blindly following behind a conman. When you watch a documentary on Jim Jones, Charles Manson, Adolf Hitler, and Heaven's Gate, you wonder how sane people fall into blind loyalty. Biden won the election. Every state has audited, recounted, and verified the vote totals. However, the GOP continues to try and overturn only a portion of the vote that they don't like. None of the down ballot races are in question, just the top of the ticket. They continue to give political power to someone who has no political power. That is like a former boss calling you and telling you that they will fire you unless you complete a special project. Although you don't work for them anymore, you're at an entirely different company, you risk your job to do the special project.

What are all you grundoons worried about? What will happen on Jan. 6 will be legal and a good thing for this country. It will force things to be debated over and there is going to be a good change coming in this country very soon. The government will be fundamentally changed forever and it has needed it for a long time.

Good analogy. It's the fear that Republicans in Congress have of being attacked by Trump on Twitter, which is driving this strict obedience to dear leader. It is cowardice. Sen. Ben Sasse (Nebraska) is one of the few who will stand up to Trump... even though he is only 19 days away from being pushed out the door.

What exactly is planned in DC on January 6 (outside the Capitol)?
I asked because last night someone was telling me about the "huge" gathering that is supposed to happen there. "Millions."

What, specifically, is going to be "fixed" because of what is happening on January 6? Congress counts the electoral votes that were cast.

This is ridiculous. Anything which needed to be debated should have already been argued in a federal court. Over the course of the last 6 weeks the Trump legal representation has had multiple opportunities to make their case for voter fraud in the 2020 Presidential election. In one case, they stood before a Trump-appointed Judge, Stephanos Bibas, and didn't even argue that fraud had occurred in Pennsylvania... despite insisting that it had while giving interviews on Fox News.

Trying to overturn the results of a Presidential election by way of Congress, instead of through our courts, is not Constitutional. It also sets a bad precedent for future elections. Republicans will not like it when a Democratic Party nominee follows Trump's blue print for how to behave like a spoiled brat after losing a Presidential election... and if American politics has taught us anything, it's that what goes around comes around.

At least 140 House Republicans to vote against counting electoral votes, two GOP lawmakers say

Enemies of the State. Seditious traitors to our Democratic Republic every damn one of them. Throw em all in jail.

Also, Happy New Year!
Spoken like a true Nazi. Guten Rutsch!
