2020 Presidential Race

I support legalizing all drugs and regulating them much like alcohol but I know that's not happening anytime soon or ever.

I have some cognitive dissonance about this. I know government isn’t going to fix the drug problem. I know making drugs illegal probably makes some problems worse.

But man, I’ve seen some messed up **** as a result of drugs.

So have I but keeping them illegal isn't going to stop it.

Legalize drugs, regulate them like booze and let employers decide their own drug use policies.

Having a $10,500 per capita health care cost is already having a devastating effect on the country and it's only getting worse.
Of course we can't get off fossil fuels in 10 years, but we should do more to move in that direction.
Then why aren't you calling these idiots out saying that?
Yang saying we have to move to higher ground immediately.
All dumb as a box of rocks.

That is reassuring. Paper ballots please.

Even then, the precinct captains have to know the count and compare it to the state site which could be hacked nevertheless.

Then, the captains must be willing to say something if it off in the direction they favor. How many would let 1 vote slide? How many 2? 2 votes per precinct would net 11,500 votes in Florida.

Also, if it goes to a recount in a place like Florida, then we are engaged in a legal war not an attempt to accurately count. Any bubble not perfectly filled will be challenged.

I was thinking more along line of paper validation. Any better ideas?

Yes. Just to start:

1) Air gap your back end databases which hold the actual results. I.e., the internet doesn't even go there.

2) Limit the number of people who can alter the web-facing totals and make them triple authenticate using both physical and digital means every time they make a change.

3) Never connect any voting machine involved in the voting to ANY network.

4) Three captains verify every precinct count. They report these separately in a secured setting requiring at least dual authentication. Any discrepancy results in an auditor visiting that precinct and a full manual recount.

5) Protect voter data and do not play fast and loose with voter rolls. Changes to any part of a voter's data set should be confirmed with the voter or official documents like a death certificate.

So you would have to have ID for that last one ? I like it , let’s apply that to the front of the process as well .

I think the economy would be stronger under some of their proposals. (Health care, some level of student debt forgiveness)
How? All you are doing is moving money around. That debt forgiveness is a bailout paid for by tax payers. Why am I paying twice to go to college?

And it doesnt fix the issue, still idiots going in and getting in crazy debt. Where does it end? Why just college debt? Better debts out there to forgive if you are going that route. College debt is 100% self inflicted.

I guess we could start forgiving medical debt too.

ID helps, but only if your data hasn't been tampered with or entered incorrectly. Florida voters especially will want to make sure their voter record hasn't been purged and still matches their current data exactly. I would include address spelling and capitalization in that. You want to avoid being shown to the provisional ballot table or sent to the wrong polling place.

Then you should have left it alone. ACA made a situation that was getting less worse much worse. Stop fiddling, the collective you, dont know how to fix it. All you ever achieve is pushing off the real issue to someone else.

Biggest thing to reduce health costs is to live healthier. Does it fix everything? No. But it fixes a lot. We are 21 lbs heavier than our European counterparts. Dont tell me that doesnt play a big part. And it's free. And it actually helps people get healthy instead of shifting the health care costs to the healthy. Fix the actual problem, dont play with the symptoms.

I need a home to live in, I bought a million dollar mcmansion, luther should help pay for it because without it I am homeless.
I started a small business with a $500,000 loan. I employ 6 people. But i can barely make ends meet. My business loan should be forgiven, too.

One thing that is never mentioned by anyone, left or right. Countries with universal health care tend to have much higher personal debt to income ratios than the United States.

Household accounts - Household debt - OECD Data

Is that a win for the conservative view? Maybe.

We also have a shocking number of bankruptcies due to medical debt, with over 500 thousand a year in the middle of an economic expansion, which directly affects this tally.

Is that a win for the liberal view? Maybe.

As usual, the politicos will lie by not giving us the full picture and pointing fingers. That is the easiest thing to do when faced with complex problems with complex solutions you can't sound bite in an attack ad or copypasta in an online meme war.

But the truth is, most countries are failing their people as bad or worse than America. We can't just emulate them and be OK as many on the left think.
