Pete Buttigieg Draws Overwhelmingly White Crowd to Historic Black Chicago Neighborhood

Mayor Pete Buttigieg held a grassroots event on Tuesday for supporters in the historically black neighborhood of Bronzeville in Chicago, but drew very few black supporters, according to local press reports.

“[T]he overwhelmingly white audience he drew to the event in a historic black neighborhood reinforced the difficulty the Democratic presidential hopeful has had in connecting with African American voters,” the Chicago Tribune wrote about the event.

Buttigieg hinted at the demographics of the room during his speech, urging his supporters to reach out to people who were different.

“Find the people who don’t look like most of you in this room and let them know they have the chance, not just to support this campaign, but to shape it,” he said.

He never had a shot. It’s always been one of Biden, Bernie, and Warren. Harris had a outside shot. Those preaching Biden’s demise I think are missing that Bernie and Warren are going to split the far left wing.
I think the ship has already sailed on Harris. She’s lost a lot of ground after that eviscerating by Gabbard and I don’t see her coming back.

Poor Jay Inslee. He dropped out today. His exit is getting more coverage than he ever got while running. In fact, today is probably the day many learned he was running, by the fact that he announced he's quitting.

That’s right. She was getting the front runner treatment after the earlier debate. But now, not so much.
I am relatively young in the scheme of Presidential debates. It was the most eviscerating moment I have seen in a debate. I am sure there have been worse.

Reagan had a couple of famous one-liners in presidential debates. I think it was against Mondale where he said he would not use his youth against him (or words to that effect). I can't remember the other guy's name (a senator) but it was like, "Mr. so and so, you're no John Kennedy."

But that Gabbard attack on Kamala will go down in history too.

Quayle had responded to questioning his lack of experience by saying that he had as much experience as did John Kennedy when he ran for President. This was when Bush / Quayle ran in 1988 against Dukakis I think. Bentsen said something to the effect that "I knew John Kennedy, I served with John Kennedy. Senator, you're no John Kennedy". I read that he was prepared for the Quayle response as they set him up, knowing that he was going to say that.
