2021 Lady Vol Recruiting Thread

Very impressive.

Is it? Did you see the scores of these games? 100-21, 104-25, 102-7??? The most informative tidbit from all that data were her numbers against the one team good enough to challenge them, and beat them twice, which were significantly worse.

I don't pretend to be an expert on Texas high school hoops, and it's great she's putting up video game numbers, but it's hard to believe this glorified exhibition game schedule is doing much for her development. At Ensworth, she went against high level prospects in practice every day. Maybe they should schedule a game against Loretto... 😈

Kaiya in her first game against Cypress Creek (6A they are a 5 A school) had
had 14 points on 4/21 shooting, 0/5 from three, 6/8 (75%) FT, 10 rebounds 1 stl

the next time playing that same team she played much better 22 pts on 6/12 shooting, 3/3 from 3pt range, 7/8 (88%) FT, 12 rebounds , 2 assists, 1 blk, 1 stl

Against an undefeated 6A team she performed much better... Numbers weren’t up to her averages but she far from backed down from one of the best teams in the state.

Fun note that team has two texas signees ranked in the top 25. Rori Harmon and Kyndall Hunter.

this made me cackle......Sara and her crew might not be able to beat Karly Weathers but Kaiya Wynn is one im not worried about she probably has played Lorretto before and likely won.

She's obviously a great player, the point is I just don't see how playing a schedule where they can name the score every game is doing much to help her develop...

I don't think any of the players coming in next season as freshmen will get into the starting lineup. If I had to pick a player who I think would make the most impact as a freshman I would choose Striplin. I think she has the overall ability to step into KK's spot and be effective in those minutes. Wynn will see a lot of minutes as well. but she has a tougher challenge because we have so many returnees at the guard positions. The overall depth and talent the four freshmen will bring does put us in a far better position next season than we are this season. Just like this season the bench is far better than Coach Harper's first season. I think the four freshmen will again give us a bench upgrade. I figure Wynn plays in a fairly good league in a big city like Houston. I know she played in a good league when she was in Nashville. The good news she want have to be rushed into any kind of lead role next year. She will be able to adjust to the level as the season progresses. The great thing about the roster Kellie is building were getting to the point where we'll have senior leadership guiding the freshmen and that is how you become a great and reliable winning program.

Volfan2012: Thank You for this you put in your post ! I figure Wynn plays in a fairly good league in a big city like Houston. This what i have been saying even before Tamari sign with the lady vols, The HS team she and her sister played for was not that good but the division the team was in was loaded with a lot of the good teams. 6-5 Elizabeth Kitley VT team won the state wide champion ship two times not back to back why because that was a very good team. So to me if league Wynn is fairly good like you said i think she will see more time then any of the players coming in.

I am sure she will play quite a bit but I think the big minutes available are for a post player like Striplin. If Green comes back then she might not see as many minutes in the post as I expect. If Green leaves Striplin has a great chance of getting KK minutes barring we don't get in a transfer.

I don’t think we will know until next years season. We need assistance at PG and getting the ball inside. Also, we need to be more consistent from 3 point land.

Noticed that our final class ranking on Prospect Nation was 9 and on Hoopgurlz 15 that is quite a difference guess we'll find out when they actually play games.

Number nine rated class is even something better to get excited about.
The rankings of the players is NOWHERE near accurate enough to predictably tab the #9 class as better than the #15 class. There is way too much standard deviation. The top classes have enough margin for error that you can assume the top 5 classes or so definitely have more talent than the classes in the 10-15 range. But the difference between the #9 and #15 class is nothing more than paper celebration. If they went back and reranked every class after 4 years you would see they did a terrible job at distinguishing the difference between each class after the Top 5 or so ranked classes.
