That would be a big buyout of Kelly. Not that UM doesn't have that kind of money, but that move would surprise me.

Kellys buyout right now is $3 million.

After Dec 31 this year, the amount drops to $2 million.

Basically, Michigan wants him-they can pay the LSU release fee with the change from some boosters sofa. (In the grand scheme of things of course)

That seems absurdly low, so I looked it up myself, and you are correct. That is the buyout if Kelly leaves on his own.
I suspect that section of Kelly's contract will be beefed up now that he is getting them in the right direction and they want to keep him.

If LSU fires Kelly, they owe him 90% of his remaining contract.

I'm afraid most people will never know just how incredible it is for New Mexico State to have a winning record or even go to a bowl game. I know it's C-USA and the competition is the weakest in FBS, it's still an impressive feat.

Hats off to Kill. Seriously, should have been COTY.
Since 1978, NM State has had 6 winning seasons. Jerry Kill had 2 of the 6, and he was only there 2 years. Before this year, their last double-digit win season was 1960, when they went 11-0 and finished 17th in the AP Poll.

I drove through Las Cruces last year on a road trip. The natural scenery around there is gorgeous, but it isn't particularly close to any major population center and the city itself seemed kind of old/drab. There certainly is no reason why a good football team, at any level, should be there, so good on Kill for having a couple competitive teams.

Huge hire for USC. Last two Bison coaches have turned out pretty well (Bohl & Klieman (K-ST))
I don’t know. I think that guy was probably forced out due to their falling off their usual pace the last two years. They’ve been overtaken by SD State in the pecking order and they probably aren’t happy about it.

I heard it's done he's leaving. Go Vols! Sports illustrated reporting 5 years 36.7 million and he has accepted the job.
So the outlet that is financially bankrupt, on the verge of laying off their entire staff, hasn't been relevant in 20 years - is the one to get the scoop?

As soon as it's official, you'll hear. They are "in discussion" as of now.

Just what I read

On3 YouTube saying the same thing

strange. he had a decent year for Boston College. seems like it would have to be a pay cut too, he was making 4 million a year.
This article from Milwaukee local media says he was on pretty thin ice at BC, and might have bailed himself out of getting fired by making/winning their bowl game.
