2023 Recruiting

When Key is gone, and with us not signing any high school players yet, and If we don't land an impact center in the transfer portal next year, isn't it possible Hollingshead will be our center? And we could lose 6 players after this season. So this player wants to come, is good enough for us to accept, but we have so many players that only play the 4 that we can't take her, even with a possible 6 spots open? ok

Jill can play 3/4/5. Karo can play 4/5. Sara and Marta 3/4… very very very little(to no) 5. If the player was specifically a 4 player than you can see how it might be a little congested for the next 2 years but it still makes no sense to not take her if she was a top60 player and she could develop for 2 years.

You could probably add Tess and Justine to that group as well. Maybe this happened when a recruit was misleading our Coach. If so, I’m guessing how we recruit may change a bit. Maybe add some, commit by a specific date, or I will give our scholarship to someone else.

That's exactly the route we need to start going with recruiting. give a time if not let's move on. I was wondering maybe Coach Staley did that with ADR wanted a commitment while she was there couldn't get it and coach said waist of time we moving on. just my opinion because I saw a post earlier where she was dropped from SC board even before announcing

I think someone committed....coach Sam game some Tea

Maybe we’ve offered but it’s not been advertised.
Which player would it be thats left in 23 ? One that's worth noting or is worthy of ESPN Top 100 and not a 4 star NR that we would be excited about ? It's giving we took someone as a last resort to avoid the strikeout. Id rather take it on the chin and go harder in recruiting for 2024/25. More spots avail versus filling it with a player you really did not go after that hard in the first place.

Correct. I was hesitant to add Justine because so many feel she’s just a guard but at 6’4… girl Getcho butt in the post and learn how to defend down there at the least.

Seems farfetched most likely a tic tok video they are about to drop or something. We have no other recruits left to commit unless its an unknown of Nichols changed her mind about KU .
Delaney Thomas is still on the board and has not committed anywhere or made any comments about where she is going. Nichols has not publicly commented and what we have is the Ball Out saying it is Kansas and they are right most of the time. Then there are players that were not on the board we may not know about. May be nothing and no commits for sure, but until November 8th have to keep thinking we could get one or two. The thing about Nichols is that she has not publicly committed to Kansas don't know why that hasn't happened she lives there and is 40 miles from the school. I'd like to think Tennessee is still in the picture and that she is holding off until the end so she can sign and not have to hear from the locals for weeks.

Why is Tennessee STILL finding it so hard to recruit?

This is the house that built women's basketball, we've finally got a pulse again, AND a voracious fan base.

I'm really at a loss -- what are recruits saying??? I'm so not used to seeing Hoopgurlz without a 1-5 player having TENNESSEE signed.

Well, the additions to the ol' ignore list have started early this season. Fun times ahead with fun people!!
How so ? Transfer portal is recruiting free agent experienced college players lol . Ill take that any day over 3 to 4 freshmen with no experience in college with most likely 1 having the confidence to be a game changer their first year for a program while the other three mature and grow into roles .

Things we know: Both Walker and Franklin will be out of eligibility after this season, and Powell has said she will be here this season and next.

Things we don't know: We think Horston, Jackson, and Key will leave after their senior seasons, but they each have another year of covid eligibility, so who knows? We also don't know who might hit the portal. And we don't know who will be in the portal to recruit for the LV's.

So, without knowing for sure, let's assume that the three seniors will join the two super seniors and leave, and no one will hit the portal. That still leaves 10 players returning next season.

If Kim Darby is given a scholarship, that means we will have five total to give. But Kellie has traditionally had squads of thirteen, so she may look only for 3 players in the portal. PG will be solid with Powell and MIles, Jillian and Striplin would be the fives, Marta and Sara the fours, Pissott/Marta the threes, and Tess /Wynn the twos. That's not a bad team right there. So Kellie must mine the portal for players to fill in the needs and improve the team, anywhere from 3 to five. Note that Tess will be the only senior of the returning players next year, so that has implications for HS recruiting for the 24 season, too.
