Yea, lots of chat on the Ohio State boards about Day. He just might leave on his own and not wait to be fired. Apparently the buckeye fans have been pretty hard on his family. It doesn't sound like a good place to stay based on the board comments. Question is, is the environment so toxic that it would be difficult to get a good replacement?

It feels like if he doesn't win the playoff game he's either leaving or getting the boot. Pretty amazing with the record he's compiled.

Ohio State will have no problem getting a replacement that is quality hired.

I mean hell, there could be a case made for Chip Kelly to be promoted and slide right into that job. IT isn't that crazy of a hire and Ohio State recruits itself so the experiences and work he had to do at Oregon and UCLA won't be as hard

If ucla was too much for Chip, the intense pressure demanded at tOSU will definitely be

UCLA wasn't too hard for Chip.... He got the hell out of there before dealing with the BS of the realignment.

I would not be shocked to see Lincoln Riley do the same... Man ran away from being a SEC coach only to wind up coaching in the Big 10 and half of his schedule criss crossing the country....

And the talent Kelly would walk into is far greater than even his best teams at Oregon.

He got out because he wanted to coach, not deal with NIL and Portal issues. Not because of realignment

I think he is out the door the minute the season ends regardless of when that is.
If that was the case, they would have already fired him and let Kelly be the interim coach in the playoffs. I think he has to make a deep run to keep his job this year. If he wins a few playoff games and they still drop the hammer on him, it would be a bad look to other potential coaches.

I don't think he is going get fired just like I don't think he is going to up and quit

I think what is likely to happen is both sides will come to mutual agreement that its time to for both sides to divorce.

Stoops and Kentucky were embarrassed at home by Louisville. It is the first time that the Cardinals have won the Governor’s Cup since 2017. More than all of the other losses that Kentucky has had this season, this one symbolizes the fall from grace that their program has experienced in 2024. After 12 years of steadily building Kentucky into a respectable program in the SEC, Stoops now has the Wildcats back where they were when he started, at the bottom.

You really think it's not gonna look bad if he gets fired/leaves while still going to the playoffs?

Getting to the playoffs is the new game-and the only one that really matters.

I love beating Bama and Florida, but you give me the option of beating them and going 2-10 vs losing to both and going to the playoffs at 10-2? I'm taking the playoffs every time.

If you were an up and coming coach with options, would you really wanna go somewhere that you could end up in the CFP semifinals and still get fired because you lost a regular season game by 3 points? Puh-leaze.

I think Stoops checked out there late last year and this year. His loud protests to the contrary seem to indicate that even more.

The dust-up he had with Cal before he left was weird, and then he very publicly was linked with the A&M job and he wanted it badly before they pulled the plug on him. He bitched a lot this offseason about NIL, how he doesn't get enough support, and how he doesn't like having to recruit his own players.

That 10-3 season from 2021 and winning a NYD bowl seems like a long time ago. He's gone 18-20 (7-17) since. This was easily his worst season since the very first year he was there, and that's even including a win over #6 Ole Miss.

That's not really the situation. for OSU its the difference between going 11-1 and beating your rivals on the way to the playoffs, vs going 10-2 and losing to your rival while on the way to the playoffs.

I think most OSU fans would trade an 11-1 playoff season with a loss to Michigan for a 10-2 playoff season with a win over Michigan.

Didn't Herman and his wife get caught snorting cocaine off a hooker's ass?

Not that I have a problem with that.

Think it would be cool as hell to have a head coach and his wife that are freaks.

One burning question is whether he Mike Price'd it and worked in a "horns up" reference during the alleged festivities.

Congratulations to former Tennessee running backs coach Jerry Mack on getting the Kennesaw State job.
Didn't realize KSU fired Bohannon. I kinda follow them from hometown perspectives. His pops was our HS head coach when I was in HS, and Brian ran around like a rug rat at practice.

He has been KSU's only coach since installing football program 9-10 years ago, and they were very productive at the FCS level. He was a Paul Johnson disciple and Paul toted him around to all his jobs till the Kennesaw job came up. KSU just didn't get anything going at FBS. Prob tried to move up too soon. And Bohannon is entrenched in the Triple Op. Not sure if there will be a meaningful gig for him after this. Never heard anything bad about him as a coach. I know from experience how much a disciplinarian coach his dad was in HS back in the day. It was rough, but we were a premier HS back then too.

After what some criticize the university as an undeserved firing after launching that program with FCS playoff success, and their first full access season in CUSA, Bohannon was at The "Owl Walk" as a spectator pumping his playrs up as they passed.

KSU will be a hard place for anyone at FBS level. Yes, nice area in Cobb county with easy access to downtown. It's a suburb school so prob lots of concrete. Haven't been near campus in years since it was a podunk school. Above average academics. Good engineering program when they aquired Southen Tech that's a big feeder for Ga Power. At 48K students, a significantly large school that has spent over $550m in upgrades around campus. But, they will be competing for leftover recruits with 2nd/3rd tier similar schools like UAB, Troy, Ga Southern and so on. Flip side is maybe AD felt they had enough pre-planning for the FBS move that recruiting should have already been bolstered to compete decently in the first 2 years. Positives for the coach is that as a school that started FCS play in 2015, they finished their 7 years in FCS with 4 top 10 FCS ranking and 4 playoffs. Moved to ASUN, then FBS and only 9-20 last 3 years. 50/50 on warranted firing or not.

Ditto. He despised the recruiting dance even before NIL. That's the main reason he tried the NFL. But, apprently he maintained a bit of his college approach and it didn't translate. At his age, he's prob perfectly happy as a top OC.

He claims he is. He said he was in a spot where he could do whatever he wanted and he wanted to coach.

He heard Pittman say in an interview that a HC duties are set the practice schedule and beg people for money. And he realized it’s true and that he didn’t want to do that

Don't blame him. No one can argue his worth as an OC, and none of the crap. Or half of it anyway.
I accidentally hit enter and it sent way before I meant to. Feel free to take your like away if the full version isn’t what you were expecting

If he truly made a career mistake it was leaving Oregon in the first place. Great set up and he had it flying high.

Just had to call Uncle Phil occasionally. No begging for money required there

Thought it was spot on. Also, if you are succesful at a school that sells itself, there may be some relief from the HC circus, but not a lot. In many respects Oregon is one of those few schools where the circus is way easier than other schools. I'd say it's a great job. Maybe Top 3 for a HC. I just don't think they'd be all that down here with the boys. If we're talking SOS and opponent performance, they show as weak as anyone else above the Mason Dixon.
