2024 Official Seed List Watch Party Thread

agree, but i really think we can win out.... and if we dont get the last number 1 seed... what a joke. i really think we go 3 - 1 last 4 games, we are a number 1 seed, down fall of that we proably go west.
Will you think it’s a joke if both us and Arizona win out and we don’t get the last #1 seed? Have you looked at their resume?

Personally I’d rather be the #2 in the South or Midwest and play in a regional closer to home than the #1 out West.

Most TN fans going to the game are going to have to fly to the destination regardless. I’d prefer the 1-seed for a number of reasons, but primarily because it would mean Arizona is likely our 2 and that’s a far better matchup than being the 2 in Houston, UConn, or Purdue’s region.

Sure, although Detroit and Dallas are easy drives for a lot of folks, too, and flights to LA are much more costly.

TYS has multiple direct flights to Dallas and Detroit everyday. So I’d be pretty happy with either of those locations.

I just want the easier matchup even if there are fewer TN fans in the building. Arizona is unequivocally a better matchup for us than Houston or Purdue, and I think Arizona is more likely to get upset before we’d face them anyway.

I’m not sure the fans have as big of an impact on the game as matchups do in March. Besides, we’ll be a high-seed, so in the first two rounds we’ll be the “underdog” by the rest of the other fans in the building anyway. They’ll be cheering for the lower seeds regardless.

Go 3-1 with our only loss being to Bama and we’ll share the SEC title at the very least IMO. I’m calling a Bama loss at Florida. Then we’ll be the 1 seed in the SECT as long as South Carolina doesn’t finish 3rd.

Agree - it’s all about matchups. And it’s March Madness. With the parity this year, I wouldn’t be surprised if at least two of those three are out prior to the elite eight.

If we were talking a Louisville region, or Atlanta that would be one thing, somewhere I think you’d likely see thousands in difference of Vols fan. Being Dallas, Detroit or LA I think you’re likely going to see a very similar number of Vol fans at all 3 of those.

Fwiw also saw it mentioned that the committee will put us in Charlotte over Memphis due to proximity, unless there’s a conflict or issue with bracketing principles. I know that had been a topic was some folks mentioning wanting Memphis even though it’s further, committee is sticking to their geographical principles.

Feels like if we’re put in Charlotte, there is a strong chance UNC/Duke will also be there. Makes it less appealing as they will eat up all of the tickets and is another reason I’d want to go out West as a 1.

Charlotte isn’t a region, it’s a first/second round site.

I guess I’m more confused about how the locations work. I thought the sites/locations were somewhat aligned with regions. Didn’t know you could end up in Charlotte on the other side of the country but be in the West region.

First and second round sites can feed into any region.

Selfishly, I would want Memphis. While Charlotte is geographically closer, the discussion about fans though is a better discussion. Memphis would most likely get more fans.

Bama also has to go on the road to ole miss this Wednesday too. Squeezed between Kentucky and college game day coming to town for the first time ever, that could definitely be a sleepy spot for them.

Doubt it. Flanagan is going to be suspended and Ole Miss is ass. They couldn’t even beat South Carolina at home. They aren’t beating Alabama lol.

But Flanigan will likely be suspended, and he is Ole Miss's top rebounder and second highest scorer.

Florida drubbing Vandy dropped them in the NET rankings because of how bad Vandy is lol. So we’re back to just 4 Q1 wins for now. I think Florida will rise back up though.

Totally forgot about Flanagan’s punch lol. I def won’t be picking ole miss in that one, I mostly just see it as a Mizzou-type game that we had last week. Should rephrase, that I Could see them sleep walking through it, but would still be surprised if they lost.

Arizona has a little bit better resume than us right now. They will almost certainly put Arizona in the west as either the 1 or 2 seed. We would probably need to win out regular season and AZ lose at least 1 to pass them for the West 1 seed.
Arizona doesn’t “have” to be in the West, but they will be because it’s their natural region and the three teams currently above them are in dither natural regions: UConn (East), Purdue (Midwest), and Houston (South). If a team like UCLA or Washington was ahead of them on the 1-seed line, it would bump Arizona elsewhere.
That’s my case why we are getting bumped down and AZ taking the West. Houston is more south than “west”.
