2024 Official Seed List Watch Party Thread

The R64/32 sites have zero correlation to what regional you are in. We could be playing in charlotte/memphis/etc and still be the 1 out west or a 2 in the MW or south, for that matter.
Right. I think we can all agree we will be in one of these three spots on Selection Sunday:

#1 seed in the West (Arizona as the 2)
#2 seed in the South (Houston as the 1)
#2 seed in the Midwest (Purdue as the 1)

In any of the above scenarios, we will play in Charlotte for the first two rounds.

May even be in Memphis. Almost certainly one of the two.

I wonder if they would put us in Memphis and give UNC and Duke Charlotte, even if we're ahead of both of them. That wouldn't really be screwing us over or anything, and it would give 2 blue bloods exactly what they want. Otherwise, Duke will get sent to either Brooklyn or Pittsburgh.

Memphis would be great, but if they stick to the “closest to campus” geographical standard it will be Charlotte.
Yeah I definitely think charlotte is most likely, Memphis just could be on the table if it works better with other factors at play.

Officiating has been this way since 1979, Adams just has taken his spot with the rest of bad officials I've seen through the many years. Nothing I can do about it so I don't complain.
The game has changed tremendously since 1979. Rules, speed, blocking, 3 point line plus many more have changed and players plus coaches made the change but officials have not. It's Ok to say bad officials because there are some. There is no excuse to miss walks, charges, out of bounds or some of the simple missed calls made back in 1979. Tough to be an official and maybe they should put 4 out there instead of 3. I get your point but a foot out of bounds is a foot out of bounds. See previous post especially when there is an official at the point. Teaching point. They don't have to be perfect, but it could cost a better team a game. See Purdue.

Fwiw Lunardi says the margin is now razor thin between Tennessee & Arizona, can’t speak for him but that sounds much different from his take before about Tennessee needing Arizona to lose.

I'll speak for him. He's an idiot.

He's essentially pulling for a Tennessee loss to save face from failing to acknowledge what everyone else has seen coming. Arizona's résumé is a house of cards because of how terrible the Pac12 is this year. Zero opportunities left to get a win that will impress the committee, and Tennessee is closing out with four Q1 opportunities. They blew their only two interconference opportunities vs WSU, they have two Q2 losses, and a Q3 loss. Like I said a week ago, they do not control their own destiny. Joe is easing into that idea like an ice bath given his prior hot take about the strength of their lead for that last 1-seed.

They’d have to move ahead of us, unless the committee was lying, they came out like 2 weeks ago saying they’d follow mileage for sites strictly and used Tennessee with Charlotte vs. Memphis as an example, saying they’d send us to Charlotte.

Yup, all very well said.

I missed that, but it makes sense.

My sources can confirm, we will be one of the top 3 seeds in one of the 4 regions.
I trust my sources...
Check my stats.

Tennessee has jumped up to claim the fourth No. 1 seed in Sunday's updated Bracketology after winning at Alabama. The Vols have a comparable set of wins to North Carolina's and their losses are higher quality. UNC does have a head-to-head victory vs. Tennessee, but it came at home, so it carries a little less weight. That would only matter as a tiebreaker anyway and this isn't a tie.

SIAP

Lol what a region for Tennessee stories. A TBD 16 seed, then if you win, you get either FAU (who sent you out last year) or Texas (Barnes stories for days there). THEN if you advance, you get (probably) a still-improving Kentucky for the third or fourth time, OR you get Illinois who already saw your team earlier that year. AND, if you get past all that noise, you probably play Arizona, who's seen you twice recently, in a "they should have been the #1 seed" match.

I get that Barnes plays a national schedule, so we've got history with a lot of the tournament teams now, but that region is just oozing a ridiculous number of PR bylines and media pieces.

There are always interesting bylines and media pieces. I know many people like to think the committee purposely creates these, but they don’t. With so many teams in the mix, they naturally create themselves.

Dylan Disu just went down on a no contact, twisting knee injury. Hate to see it, have enjoyed watching him at vandy and Texas. Posting in here as Texas is likely to be in our R32 matchup range at either a 1 or 2 seed.
