So are we Purdue or Wisconsin fans today?? Idk if we can catch Purdue and Wisconsin could jump us. However, we do have the H2H with Wisconsin and they just lost to Nebraska.

As you said, Wisconsin lost earlier this week and we beat them on the road. We are Badgers fans today.

Updated seed list heading into todays action…

Purdue
Connecticut
Houston
North Carolina
——————————
Arizona
Wisconsin
TENNESSEE
Marquette
——————————
Kansas
Alabama
Creighton
Iowa State
——————————
Duke
Baylor
Illinois
Dayton
Need Stanford to pull this off tonight over Arizona to solidify us as the top 2 seed with Wisconsin losing twice this week. I don’t think Marquette would jump us but I have seen crazier things.

Seeding doesn't matter.

Whether you're hot or not does.

We've lost to bad teams over the years. Then, look silly when we'd been demanding a #1 seed for weeks.

…the year the ‘Cats got our seed and lost to the peacocks… 🦚

Didn’t matter.

I’ll take the 2-seed in the South Region or East Region. That would put us in either Indianapolis or Charlotte for the first 2 rounds. Then we’d head to either Dallas or Boston.

Edit: Some brackets showing different locations so I may be wrong on this.

That’s not how the first 2 rounds work, opening rounds locations aren’t set by region, they’re determined by seeding/proximity to try and give favorable locations to higher seeds.

Do we think Tennessee prefers Charlotte or Memphis for 1st round location? Charlotte is closer, but I would imagine there are more Vol fans in west TN than in North Carolina. Little off topic for this thread, but I'm curious.

UNC is clearly in line for Charlotte. The good news is that the only other teams geography-wise that are close to us in seeding are Duke and Alabama, so at this point, the odds are very good we start out in either Memphis or Charlotte.

With Houston losing, does anyone think Tennessee moves up to the 1 line?
I did take a look at Houston’s remaining schedule and it’s a doozy… they have to play #12 Iowa St, #18 Baylor, #23 Oklahoma, and #8 Kansas again.

If they win all of those games then they deserve to be a 1-seed. But, if they lose those games, definitely an opportunity to move into 1-seed territory assuming we handle our business. Big 12 is a stacked conference this year.

Yes you’re correct. I was basing it off the current locations the bracket had as of now. I was aware of the seeding/proximity that’s why I said I was probably wrong since the teams on those seed lines will change which would change where each team’s pod is played at. Jumped the gun a little.

I had asked this in some other thread, selfishly hoping for it to be Memphis because I'd rather travel to Memphis than go to Charlotte for UT games twice in a year, and you raise a very interesting point. I had been concerned Charlotte would be the pick given its proximity to Knoxville, but there are a fair number of Vols in West TN and Nashville is closer to Memphis than it is Charlotte.

Not sure if Lunardi really has any insight on that part of the bracket process, but he clearly thinks Charlotte over Memphis. He probably just bases that off mileage from campus though.

Looking ahead this week, UNC and Kansas have, by far, the toughest games remaining for our potential benefit.

UNC:
vs Clemson
@ Miami

Kansas:
@ KSU (already lost)
vs Baylor

The next best chance for us to benefit from a loss is Houston @ Cincy on Saturday. Purdue and UCONN’s combined 3 games should all see them be double digit favorites. With KU already losing, if we take care of business this week, no reason we aren’t firmly on the 1 line next week. Could be comfortably there with a little help from UNC and/or Houston’s opponents.
